Update. Thanks for all your advice and suggestions. Having heard your thoughts I thought I’d give the vinyl a wipe with solvent/panel wipe prior to printing to do a before and after test. Sure enough the solvent wiped area printed perfectly. I changed the roll and voila……………problem gone. I’ve since communicated with my supplier and we’ll see where this now goes. Needless to say, the part used roll is now gathering dust awaiting a response. Thank you all

I’ve just placed an order for 1500 x A4 240 Micron clear sheets with http://handypacks.eu.

If you have a laser cutter check out this video which has links to .dxf files to cut the headbands.
I’ve produced 100 today and will distribute when additional PVC sheets get delivered.

Hugh, re Card Not Present(CNP) see my post 19 Feb and the text I cut and paste from then as follows……., David Hammond, after you commented that Sumup may not do Card Not Present (CNP), I checked with Sum up and they replied just now by email and a link. Seems Sumup does do CNP payments but at a different rate and you have to jump through a few more hoops, which is a relief for me. Anyway, see the link for more details. If you’re still interested in Sumup, why not share the benefits of signing up……..use my link to refer a friend. http://r.sumup.io/oGHNY

Kevin, Yes, spot on. No fixed costs or contractual obligations, just the percentage of 1.69%. I’d appreciate if you or anyone thinking of purchasing to use my link to refer a friend. http://r.sumup.io/oGHNY

I must admit, from hearing about Sumup on this forum in early Feb to now, I’m hugely impressed. Old school payments are now consigned to the history bin. Thank you Forum and thankyou Sumup. I took delivery on the more expensive Sumup 3G yesterday which is a standalone system with its own SIM card, rather than rely on a tablet or phone. Cost £69 +VAT, up and running in 5 mins. My wife paid £1 into the business account using the contactless method. The Sumup website shows transaction fee of 1.69%……bargain!! If you’re interested in getting Sumup, then click on the "refer a friend link. http://r.sumup.io/oGHNY

David, thanks for your advice about Traffolyte which has led me up a different path to tce.uk.com and has proved an eyeopener on even more options and has solved all my queries. I have a clear path now to solutions…..thanks again to those who contributed to my post.

To cut in a laser cutter to produce 40mm high door numbers and letters. They need to be raised but not 3mm, which the customers says is too thick……. 1.5mm is the perfect thickness. I’ve ordered some 1.5mm PVC sheeting but would prefer acrylic.

My problems are going from bad to worse now. Any ideas why the carriage should stop working? The cutter switches on and the LCD does what it has to do, but on the last switch on, the carriage is totally lifeless. Is there a small fuse specifically for the carriage or something else I might be missing? All advice and help would be hugely welcome. Thanks again

Paul heres a workaround until you get it sorted:

You say you get a CONSISTENT cut 5mm horizontal and 3mm vertically offset?
Well, after you place the registration marks in your software, unlock the layer they are in, and move them 5mm horizontal and 3mm vertical, save as a copy, and print from the copy.

Now cut from the original, and you will have tricked it into cutting in the right place.

    Your welcome.

Simon. I like your thinking. I need to figure that out. I’ll report back to you. Cheers

I’ve been in contact with Hybrid, who will be sending an engineer to rectify sometime in January????? Looks like I’m gonna have to suffer in silence till then……….but it gives me time to play around with the settings as advised. Keep the advice coming and thank you all.

Thanks, I have a HP 330 Latex printer so seperate printing and cutting is my way forward. I use Flexi that has its own RIP (Producution Manager).

I’ve relied on Flexi to send my print and cut files. I haven’t tried Finecut but I might have to. It just might be the solution.

John, The contour cuts are correct size and not random, just offset. I can send a photo off the labels but are 3mm off the horizontal and 5mm off the vertical. I’m using Mimaki Type 1 registration marks produced by SAI Flexi. The cutter is secondhand, that’s why I’m looking to get it serviced properly so it’s one less issue to consider. Thanks Paul

Chris, Thanks for your advice. I’ve tried cutting on separate days, the Drytac vinyl media is good quality. I don’t believe blade depth is an issue. For whatever reason something is getting lost in translation between Flexi Production Manager and the Mimaki Cutter. Flexi support have advised me its a Mimaki support issue and Mimaki Europe are not responding to me 3 x email for help. The contour cuts are not corresponding with the contour lines I’ve put in via Flexi. There is more than one issue and I’m floundering here. It’s probably something I’m missing but I’m at a loss to identify what it is. I really need some pointers from a Mimaki guru. Thanks all the same though.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I’ve finally figured out the way forward and have commited to purchasing the Mounters Mate Smart Station. This bit of kit seems to do all I need to do at this early stage of my new enterprise and await delivery in mid December. Thanks to Omar and all at Mounters Mate and the forum for your pointers.

Thanks for the replies thus far. I already have a KALA Atlantic 1600 Hot laminator but the Flatbed laminator/roller gives me so many more options. I can’t quite figure out what the Chinese model is. I am giving the Mounters Mate serious consideration, but just checking to see what might be out there first. Keep the comments coming, thanks

I’ve only been in the sign business a couple of years and SDUK was my first as an exhibitor working with Signet Sign Systems of Sweden. I enjoyed meeting people and basically showing our wares. We didn’t do the big push like some exhibitors did, who basically ambushed some visitors just to register the QR Codes/Leads. There were times when the numbers faded but overall a good show but definitely needed more exhibitors.
