Great profit to be made on van livery. Make yourself some small magnetic panels advertising vehicle livery and magnetic panels and every time you see a van unwritten, wap one on. Another way of getting extra work is to go don any high street and look for damaged signs. Quite often, the owners do not realise that their insurance covers any "vandalised" or "storm damaged" signs. They will always have an excess on their policies so it would help if you could …..ermmm incorporate it 😕

Europoint don’t do anything thin enough – spoke to Cameron yesterday.
Where do I buy engraving laminate?
John
Most Engraving laminates comes in .5mm/1mm/1.5mm or 3mm
Engraving laminates are available from Suregrave in Newcastle upon Tyne
or from Gravograph in Leamington Spa or Identify Engraving in Bristol (I think) or Engravamet in th midlands or Pantograph Services in Leeds. Sorry no phone numbers but can post them tomorrow when I get into work. -

MemberNovember 16, 2006 at 8:40 am in reply to: Vernier (calipers) or Micrometer vectorBiggest problem is that most clipart is american so entering the correct name for an item is awkward. Either they have altered the spelling or renamed the ruddy things completely. ie. Mini Digger is a back-ho or a pavement is a sidewalk and colour is color 🙁

If you haven’t used it for some time, ie. used as a backup only, Yahoo will cancel it off the system without warning. Well they couldn’t warn you if you hadn’t logged on but then if you had logged on then they wouldn’t have cut you off….if you get my drift 😮

MemberNovember 15, 2006 at 1:42 pm in reply to: Can anyone give me suggestions with a sparkle graphic?first i drew the 5 lines before exporting them into paintshop pro 7. Here i selected them and used the feather tool to expand the selection, giving the lines a soft edge when filling with a gold gradient, with either flood fill or an airbrush tool. Paintshop pro has a "picture tube" with pre-set shapes in such as ribbons, stars, grass etc. I selected the star tool and just plastered them everywhere! If you get stuck, fire over the file and the requirements i’ll see what i can do when i get 5! rob

MemberNovember 15, 2006 at 12:34 pm in reply to: what vinyl can be used for roof top marking on caravans? We just use a 3-5 year vinyl but we use the postcode rather than the registration number. You will always get some wally changing his vehicle shortly after applying the vinyls. Caravan roofs are not load bearing so DON’T climb on the thing ( unless it’s a Tabbert caravan ) or you will end up in the caravan.

Went to services and had a word with the chap there and asked him what the font was but he doesn’t know. He just has the brass mats for embossing the plates. 🙁
But I explained the problem and he can supply you the plates ready done and may even give a discount if you say you saw his link on UKSB.

Remember that most council employees have to pass a test:
Shine a light in one ear and if the wall on the other side lights up, the jobs theirs!
Always ask for their advertising dept.

Have you tried asking East Yorkshire Council 😕

Was in a services just off the M6 today and there is a chap selling number plates out of a trailer. The services are also a truckstop. I saw this font there on an embossed plate like the old type. I’m going there again tomorrow if you want me to get his details, let me know. He would be able to supply the finished thingumijig for you.

At the last place I had, I used Quartz Halogen Heaters. These were 3kw but the beauty of them is that they only heat living tissue! This saves trying to heat the whole area, you fix it where you are working and when you are leaving the area, switch it off. the rest of the unit stays cold but you will be nice and warm.
Drawback! Vinyls need to be kept warmish!
Another solution would be to work quicker and harder therefore getting a good sweat up 😀
-
😮 Off course 😳

Use this as your wallpaper on your computer 😀

quote Robert Lambie:I think its back to the sign firm to be honest peter…
It’s not my thing but i recon if left with the director for a while talking about his so called corporate image… i could change his mind.
(no im not going into all that with you lot :lol1: but you know what i mean?)
Morrisons not only have a crap image, their signage appears cheap, bad colour schemes, designs etc the trucks/vehicles are a joke!I don’t think the fault lies with the sign companies here. Most of the bigger companies employ "designers" who design this cr4p for a nice large fee. Now if you went into the directors office and told him you thought the general branding concept was cr4p and it should be done like this (bearing in mind he has already spent tens of thousands to his "designer") I think you would have to be careful that his door didn’t hit you on the back of your head on the way out. I worked for NatWest Bank for 20 years and they had a corporate image book that had to be followed to the letter. i.e. "If an apostrophe is used at the end of a line of text, no further apostrophe’s can be used at the end of a line for the next seven lines". Their manual was 350 pages long and they had paid some 4reshole megabucks to produce it. It’s all down to the designers and corporate image companies where the buck stops. How many times have we been stumped when you are told that the sign writing on a van has to be Pantone blah blah blah! and you just know IT AIN’T AVAILABLE! One step I have taken with this is to give any designers who end up my way, a swatch of some of vinyl colours available and tell them to pick a colour then match the Ruddy pantone to that. Another way we could sort them out is to line the bar stewards up and shoot them!

Over in the States, when they confiscate cars from drug runners etc. they then use them for the local forces. Have seen porche, ferrarri etc in a book that a customer brought in when we had to make his car into an american police car. Now he was an anorak!!!

I don’t think they had any idea how much work they would pick up from a sign show. Surely they should have worked out that the first thing that most businesses want is a sign and when we tell our new customers we can supply badges, nameplates and even embroidered workwear to help them in their new venture then the work will pour in. They need to get themselves organised and SOON or else they will have a really bad name and nobody will want to deal with them.
