this is most frustrating.
quick reply, but going way back when thermal ribbon printers had come about.
The quickest remedy for this was if your software colour pallet had let’s say, 40 colours.
Print the pallet onto the digital vinyl you use and mount it in your reception area.
below it in small text, put something like…
“please select from the wide range of colours that we can accurately reproduce from your vector artwork. we also offer a colour matching service for £100 (conditions apply)”
Presented with a wide range of colours, they quickly find one close enough to what they want to avoid the £100 service. And £100 is not way off the mark for this service when you consider what is involved and that’s even with the various devices to aid you in colour matching. anyway, I never had any complaints nor issues with people using the colours I had on my pallet.
