Installing billboard graphics in Gibraltar next to the airport. Printed on Oracal 3164. Took around two hours.

    Enjoy!

Thanks for posting your video Clive, always good to watch other sign companies do their stuff!

If doing a wall or vehicle at this sort of length, a tip is to tape the panel into place and work from the middle up, then middle down with each panel. It is a slower process for each panel install, but really helps maintain the graphics are running consistently straight. as you may know, it is so easy to have a panel running slightly skew by only 1mm or 2mm and by the time you have a few more panels in place it starts to run up or down.

anyway, you appear to have managed just fine! thanks for sharing mate.

Thanks for this tip Robert. I shall try this next time. I’m guessing this will also improve stretching and panels fitting perfectly at eye level.

yes, Pane. it helps very much with this.
when the panel is heavily taped into place it can’t go anywhere, so starting in the middle then down, your anchoring it and minimising the amount of play that you are working with. play that can cause the panel to drift out, crease or wrinkle or stretch.
there are many factors that can create stretch, but this is one big one.
I have fitted thousands of drops on trucks over my 30 years doing this and i always find this way is best to reduce errors over other methods.

    Hi Robert,
Thank you for your advise. It makes sense…..
This particular billboard is a wet install…. I know, I know, dry is the better. I’ve been doing it like this for a long time, and we sort of float the graphics into position.
I’d love to see a video of an installation with your method, can you recommend any?
