Strange lines appear on prints
-
-
Check for contamination (ink threads) hanging down from the edge of the print heads.
-
clean as a whistle
And these marks are 90 degrees to the printhead movement.
There has to be some kind of a leak on printheads to cause this, or else it has to be software related.
-
I´ve tried many files, also many file types (jpg, eps, etc).
Only times they don´t appear is when I don´t use bi-directional print, but then the speed is very slow and also the quality is worse (?). -
Is it possible that the printheads are just too worn?
I don´t want to believe that, because I replaced them ca. 2 years ago and I don´t print much.
-
Don’t know Mutoh machines.
But if it only does it when running Bi-Directional (putting ink down as the head moves left & right) it may be worth calibrating the printer for BiDirectional.
-
And how is that done?
Expert job or diy? It´s done this for about 6 months , earlier no worries.

that’s data interference. The heads are firing at random. Can be caused a by many things, you need an engineer to look at it.

Auts, that´s gonna cost a few dimes.

The joys of owning a printer I’m afraid. An engineer visit is usually expensive yes, but not as expensive as a big dead printer shaped paperweight.

Just talked to the engineer who knows Mutohs and he quoted 540 – 700€ for a 1 – 2 hour visit.
I think I´m gonna try to clean the electrical parts etc. and wish for the best.
This machine is so old that it woukd be crazy to pay fot it´s maintenance. -

I have to disagree on that, if €700 puts it back to a decent standard, that, in my view is worth every penny.
The printer running for a day or two should pay for its upkeep. I have the very first machine I ever bought 16 years ago ( a 30” versacam) still churning out print on a daily basis. Great print quality, very slow. If I traded it in or stuck it on eBay it would fetch about a grand.
If it runs all day just doing garment vinyl it will earn more or less the same. -
quote Kevin Mahoney:So you’re thinking of replacing it?
Maybe…
We´ll see. -
Looks I got it fixed.
The encoder strip was so dirty, that it made the print heads spit all over not in the spitting tank (or what ever the name is).
Still some more testing to do but looks promising…
-
No ghostlines anymore!
Still need to adjust the heads, but the main problem is away.
Off to a new topic…
-
Dirty encoder strip? That’s unforgivable. Next you’ll be telling us your cartridges were empty
-
🙁
I´m sorry I bothered you.
Well, no one suggested it might be that (not even you, sir) but still I managed to find the problem so I´m happy.
Ps. How often do you clean the strip?
Oh, and when it comes to cartridges, the printer is clever enough to let me know when that happens.
-
One more thing, if you allow.
I`m more of an artist than an engineer…..

So stop being an asshole when someone asks for help, ok?
Better say nothing, right?
I´m sick of smart arses who think that they know better, no matter what the subject is.Net is filled of those guys, no need for more.
If u step on my foot, I´l step twice.
If u r legit, I´ll back u up. -
If you read a few other posts other than just the ones that concern your requests you may possibly understand ‘assholes’ like me.
I don’t recall you saying you weren’t a sign maker so didn’t know you knew very little about the maintenance on your machines. Can I suggest some deep breaths?[emoji381] -
Awww Kevin, I see you’re making new friends [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Anyone else wanting their day ruined? I’m available for weddings, anniversaries & bar mitzvah’s.

Kevin has been nothing but helpful and if people tell you some hard truths which ive had in the past then take it on board. We were also joking about another thread that was running regarding kevin.
If im not mistaken your a finnish guy? Which may explain the lack of sense of humour 😆 . Btw i live in finland.
