Stupid question time:
What shoes do you wear at work / on site etc?
I have toe protectors when needed but I rarely use them and they still look brand new after 4 years. I tend to wear white trainers most of the time but they get dirty and can look terrible after going to a certain customers place but they’re comfy. I need a happy medium, comfort, dark and practical but cool enough to wear.
I still have street cred to consider.

Steel Cat boots from Screwfix. https://www.screwfix.com
Two days after getting new ones, dropped a pair of shears on my foot.
Dewalt ones lasted about three years, but don’t look as smart.
Both are light and comfortable.
What is this street cred thing, and where can I buy some?

Engelbert Strauss, S1 trainers.
They look very cool (old school Adidas) and have an aluminium toe cap

Those look good. I’ve seen the logo before on a few higher end trades.

OK, so here is what I wear at work daily. the only difference is I have my jacket and top branded in reflective white which is basically grey, so matches in with the workwear.
Steel Toe Cap boot/trainer
I have worn everything from rigger boots, ankle boots and trainers but have opted for the following steel toe cap shoe/trainer. They class them as a trainer but look more like a cross between a shoe/boot trainer. very comfortable and tie-in with my workwear.
I like the trainers that Colin has posted and may actually buy a pair for the summer. but I did have a trainer style in the past but the problem I kept having was even if just delivering signs, I was getting dug-up by site foremen and so on asking me to put boots on or telling me I need steel toe boots. only for me to respond “they are!!”.
still, the odd one would want to check. maybe this is because I am often in and out of a lot of sites where PPE is mandatory, but still. anyway, I went for this style and I haven’t been asked at all, since.
The trousers are very stretchy and VERY warm as they are fleece lined. the stretch is great as you can climb or crouch and they are very comfortable while working. They also come in lots of variations of colours, so you can get them to tie in with your preferred colour if you want them to match your brand.
The Jacket is the same as above. stretchy soft-shell and great to wear. keeps the heat in and has lots of pockets.
The Hood is just that, a separate fleece hood with a draw-string. These are brilliant because you only use them when it’s bitter cold and working outside. it has an internal face-covering too, so you can have the hood down and enter petrol stations or anywhere public and you already have your very own facemask built-in.
I know many think this is overkill, but it’s not till your out in the cold, up the side of a building in a cherrypicker “snug as a bug” and you will smile ton yourself for getting one. at only a tenner, can you really gripe? 😁

Do Converse, vans or UGG Boots count as workwear? 😊
I maybe should look into wearing something decent, but i am hardly what i would call in an industrial environment.
Those strauss trainers are nice but a little pricey. 🤨

This is all very well, Phill. But do they have steel toe-caps?
I mean, there is no point looking good if your big toes smashed!

Some great examples there.
I really liked the red ones so I ended up going with them but I keep getting odd looks? They do feel comfy and it makes me a little taller to get to those high to reach places so they’re thumbs up from me.
