Hi all, ive been asked to produce a sign for a local pub which will be 800mm x 1500mm onto black aluminium composite. They want a frame around it and i can only see Ashby Trade doing something like that and its silly price. Dose anyone have an alternative to this? Im also a little worried about the panel expanding and distorting if fitted into a frame, All pointers greatly received jean
If you mean an aluminium trim, then trade signs offer this service with the option of colours and sizes of trims. the screenshot i have attached is based on the medium size trim, but i would ask them to advise you on what is best suited to your panel size as i don’t know what their trim profile sizes are, to advise on. They offer small, medium and large. you want a trim that will accept a minimum of 3mm thick composite. The frame will NOT affect the panel or cause it to warp in any way.
Rob’s got the right idea. We’ve used this method for decades in Canada for Acrylic and polycarbonate faces. We’ve also used it for ACP. We make our own frames. Our supplier sells it in 24’ lengths. We use hanger bars bonded to top and bottom of the sign face. This way the face hangs down straight and this prevents bulging and warping of plastic faces. The bottom hanger bar prevents blow out from wind.
