It’s been a perfect storm this week, my sign fitter is on holiday for 2 weeks and one of the biggest single orders for signs came in from one of my housing developer clients and they couldn’t wait as they needed the signs up on site this week.
I couldn’t find anyone else at such short notice. The problem I have had is mounting the vinyl to the sign panels 8ft x 4ft.
I have to be honest I find it quite stressful, as it’s not something I have done for a while, so my technique is not great either.
Reprinting and have to start again, not great to say the least!
So I have been looking at the Mounters Mate Smart Station, anyone else got one and how do you find it?

We’ve only had ours for two weeks, I wish I’d ordered one years ago!
Amazing how fast we can do panel work now and there’s a load of other uses that speed up your workflow too.
The install from Omar and Craig was hassle free, I’d definitely give them a call, they’re very helpful and I didn’t feel in anyway under pressure to buy
If you have any questions then ask away!

Can I ask how much you paid for the machine?

Give them a call, they do a few different models and spec, from memory they sent me a pdf with pricing for models and options

I looked at most of the applicator tables on the market and settled on a CWT 1647 from Papergraphics. Had it installed at the start of July and I’m made up with it so far.

I can’t vouch for their table, as I do not have one, but I do have their laminator and can say their after-sales support is second to none!
Omar is always very helpful and quick to respond with any technical help/advice and anything I have required has arrived next morning first thing, even after i ordered late afternoon the day prior.

I have a different make so can’t comment on quality etc but in terms of having one as a piece of equipment I would say 100% yes. After your printer and laminator probably the next best piece of kit you will own.

We have the workstation from Mounters mate and it’s an absolute no brainier of a purchase. Speeds turnarounds up so much while probably giving better quality than your putting out just now. Great for putting application tape down aswell.
We move the work station and roll to roll laminator both from from Omar at mounters mate and I’d challenge you to find a better all round service to be honest. We’ve just had our third machine delivered this week from them but that ones not completely out the box yet 🙂

We have had one for a couple of years. Awesome machine. After sales service impeccable. Would thoroughly recommend mounters mate.

Same here Omar and Craig are both very helpful. Our workstation is like having an extra member of staff.

I bought a Smart Station a few weeks back and already seeing the benefits of it. I use this for laminating prints and also applying to boards.
Omar was brilliant on everything from contact to install to aftercare.
Still getting to grips with it a little and doing the full 8×4 boards is a little tricky until you get the hang of it.
For the money you won’t get any better.

I think you may have answered my question Peter.
Can you use this table or similar application tables for lamination as well?

You can James, yes, but you will be limited to the table size on how much you can laminate in one go.
You may also experience silvering if the room is cool or cold due to the roller not having heaters.
I don’t know what the roller itself is made from or what pressure options are. (i.e. some tables have hard foam rollers) and you may not get the required downward pressure on a mounting table required for the likes of vehicle wrap laminate, whereas laminators are hard rubber with heater options etc.
The quick answer is yes, you can laminate with it, but it’s worth knowing the limitations instead of buying as “one tool does all” when it doesn’t.
