Does anyone use the Oracal 7510 fluorescent material?
I’ve had a customer come back after 9 months and its faded quite a lot on the sides. I agree with him in all honesty so I said I would replace it but using 7510 again isn’t an option for me.
What brand of fluorescent yellow do you use?
Have you noticed how bad the 7510 fades within a year?
I know fluorescent material does fade but I would expect to get 2 years.

Maybe 2 years life from the vinyl & adhesive but certainly not the colour, I always try & talk the client out of this unless its for a very short term application. UV kills this stuff in no time. 9 months outside & they’ve had their moneys worth I reckon

We’re the same, we try to steer clients away from fluorescent material. Even when we used to screenprint, fluoro ink always had fading issues.

I did a pavement board a couple of years ago using Metamark MM-FL-54, still looks ok today. I think they said it had a 3 year lifespan.

Its a security firm, I’ve done a few now so I have no choice but to continue. I don’t recall the other vans fading this fast but I will take note for the future.

I’m very surprised at this Dan, It would definitely annoy me!
I use Oracal for all my cut vinyl graphics and particularly the fluorescent yellow for chapter8 chevron kits. I can honestly say I have never once had someone complain to me about fading, nor have I ever noticed any fading other than what I would expect after x-amount of years installed.
I am sure there are two Oracal fluorescents, one that has a gloss face, which has a longer life than the satin finish one. It might be worth checking this but even at that, I would say 9 months is far too fast for this type of thing to be happening.

I use this a fair bit for a specific customer and have a van literally waiting to be done with a an order I put in Monday and still not arrived.
( what the hell has happened to the courrier system lately😱. another topic maybe)
I changed to this due to previous make fading so quick.
I haven’t checked how they are performing but will after reading this.
4 years service life if fitted correctly I think may be pushing it… if you only drive indoors maybe
9 months seems a bit harsh, I normally advise around a year but never been a great fan as once the colour begins to go it looks naff

I tend to advise customers that fading will start around 12 months + but even so I still wouldn’t expect it to fade as much as it has.
I’ve gone back to the supplier with the spec sheet the Rob posted and challenged their response but I don’t expect anything good back. I will note that this was the satin version that Rob mentioned and not the gloss version, perhaps I should look at that.

I’ve been using the gloss version Dan, so may possibly be better,
Since my last post my delivery turned up and they have sent me 6510 not 7510 which I ordered.
I’ve had to fit it as customer cant wait, ( spec says short term outdoor life 😠, so will be interesting to see the outcome of this)

Does it say 7510 on the rear, Dan?
Just asking because from memory, even the matt version is kind of a satin finish, mate.
