it stuck to it like glue did a few designs & the client chose this
the phone no is a bit low.
Have you ever tried colouring Forrex boards using vinyl.
I do this quite a lot – wet, the board and the sticky side of the vinyl with a weak soap solution, then apply the vinyl as a single sheet and squeegee out the soapy water with a cloth covered (to avoid scratching) applicator. The result is a board with a glossy painted appearance – done much quicker than using paint, and ready to letter straight away as you don’t need to wait for the paint to dry.
instead of using a rag, get yourself down the market on a saturday and buy some of those really cheap sports socks (the smaller the better) and put your squeegie inside that, works better than a rag in my opinion.
Only problem with floodcoating foam with vinyl is that you end up with white edges, so you still have to do a little painting.
Andy I find the felt squeegees are to soft so I don’t use them anymore, what I do is attach a piece of velvet to a plastic squeegee using double sided tape. You can still apply a fair bit of pressure without fear of scratching the vinyl.
I thought that too mate, the ones I got from APS were about 1/4″ thick and were too flexible but the ones I got from vinyl logistics are about 1/2″ thick and are bang on, the problems with them at all.
Weve all been discussing vinyl and not commenting on Eddies sign.
Coulpe of points Eddie if I may, you have already mentioned the phone number, why did you not carry the border straight across the top of the sign? also the fixings were a bad choice, what you could have done is paint them the same as you have painted the board. This way the fixings would have been almost invisible.
martin, i felt that if i carried the border completely across the sign, it would be to close to the lettering & felt it might clash,
now as for fitting, i only supplied the sign, the factory maintanance man fitted it, when i saw the sign a few days later i met the manager
and pointed out to him about the white caps over the screws
i told him i would touch them up in green, he was happy enough with that
now in the next week or two i must get up to do it, the factory
is only around the corner from me. so its not realy a problem. 🙂
