Some jobs just require a simple phone call while others require just a tad more effort

The phonecall for this one went ‘can you pop down and give us a price for a sign on the wall’

Sure as it was only 10 mins down the road, we arrived, we saw and after a brief chat ‘we’ll be back’ went the conversation

the idea i had was to use LEDs as the logo would not permit the use of neon tube, little did i know that for the next 3 weeks i would be speaking to people from all over the globe about LEDs

Finally having settled on a system, together went the prototype letter and the visuals you see

The ensuing visit back to the customer was stunning, an office full of people in AWE at the letter, all agreeing over the visuals, an eyebrow or two raised at the price but at the end they have agreed to have it (but i still need to shave the quote a bit)

Very Nice……..if built-ups were women these would be the Carmen Electra’s

Paul are you up for trade work as I imagine fabricated halo with leds would transport well without the risk of glass breakages
id love to flog a set of letters like this but we don’t have the manufacturing expertise.

    Regards Neil……

Paul, did you make the sample letter just to get this job or would you have made a sample letter for yourself anyway and as you were quoting for this job you used a letter that would fit the job ?

Dog ends, bloody hell i hope the insurance people dont see this piccy !!!!!!!

Neil, I can supply trade for you in both plastics and metals with or without LEDs, and yea you can chuck LEDs about quite a bit before they break so theres definatly no risk of breakage during transport or fitting !!!!

They went for both signs / buildings at once after an afternoon of interogating me !!!!!

And yea the sample was built specifically for the customer cost me about 250 quid in all, but i bought red and white LEDs and three different drivers so i would estimate about 130 quid for the letter. LEDs, Drivers, Backs, Fixings etc and the design time, hell about 100 quid
Its already been to three potential customers, all who love it, so its well paid for its self……

I always try to produce samples for GENUINE customers (not the messers) it seems to justify that extra cost you can charge

i agree paul… i built an illuminated box with metal face.. 10mm clear push through letters with metal faced… on completion i had edge-lit coloured letters. again it may have cost a few pound but it has done its rounds since then with customers. not to mention it got us 13 fascias built the same from that one sample…
makes sense….. a good sample box sells.. no doubt in that… pictures are good but when they can look, touch, feel the materials and see what goes into construction it it makes all the differnece… 😀
