hi is lorraine clinche out in egypt the now? just seen it on the news and remembered her and jeff were going out there for a few weeks, hope there ok 😕
not sure if she’s already away, but it is this month I’m sure. 🙁
doesn’t she also run a pub? are we sure she didn’t try throwing someone out of a bar and start all this off? 😕
i think most foreigners have little to wory about, the beef is with the government, not with attacking each other.
i think shes already gone, in fact, i thought she was due back around now?
Hi everyone, thanks for your concern, and for thinking of me. As it happens I am still in sunny Norfolk, waiting to hear from the travel co. We are due to leave next Monday, the 7th, and so far the holiday is still scheduled to go ahead. Apparently there is no advice SO FAR for travellers departing from the 6th onwards.
I guess that if Mubarak steps down the protests will be over as quickly as they started.Lorraine
Lorianne, sit tight! although I heard from friends out there that they are safe, it is not over yet
Have friends out there for the past two weeks, spoke to them yesterday and they are loving it and wishing they had another two weeks! no trouble at all.
Today I have had an email from the holiday co to say that we are still on for Monday. If we were just off to the coast I wouldn’t be concerned, but we are setting off up the Nile for a week from Luxor before going to Hurgada, although it seems that there is not too much going on in Luxor at present.
However, I personally feel that it is more important that the Egyptians manage to come to a resolution which they are happy with, rather than that I get a holiday! We can always go at a later date.
Lorraine
Lorraine, i could have sworn you and Jeff were just off on holiday some place?
think I’m losing the plot. 😮 :lol1: :lol1: :lol1:Hi Rob, don’t know where you got that idea from, after all, it’s more than 2 months since we got back from the last one (she says, tongue in cheek! 😀 )
Lorraine
oh yeh…. 2 months ago Loraine, damn… yous must be due another holiday any day now! :lol1: :lol1:

Bets be quick to get your tickets Rob, had loads of aggro getting something that wasn’t ‘Spanish’. Now booked for the Gambia leaving Tuesday.
The way I see it, we have 2 holidays a year, 4-5 weeks out of 52.
Most people work all week, and have weekends (or a different 2 days) 52 weeks a year, plus their annual holiday, if they can.
We work 7 days a week every week including evenings, except the few weeks we are away. 😥 so that’s how I justify it! :lol1:Lorraine
no need to justify it Lorraine go enjoy you certainly earn it 😀
did they advise against Egypt ? I see it’s getting pretty nasty now.Lynn
Hi Lynn, holidays to the beach resorts are still going ahead, but the Nile cruises (which we were booked on) have all been cancelled by the tour operaters in Egypt.
We are now off to the Gambia for 2 weeks. Darned short notice to get Yellow Fever vaccines done though! Sore arm tomorrow, me thinks!
I shall be able to use the mosquito nets I bought – and never needed to use for Thailand … 😕Lorraine 😎
Lorraine you will look so good in a mosquito net 😀 enjoy

Well, I was packed and ready to go, but I have been given so much stuff to take with us (clothes, toys, books, bandages, dressings etc) plus bottles of calpol, tissues, that the bags are overweight, have managed to wangle an extra 10kg from the agents, but still going to be pushing the limit!
It’s going to be an interesting holiday!
I shall do updates on Facebook if I am able to.\Lorraine :lol1:
Becarful about luggage weight, its all very well the agents saying that but IF you do go over weight they will force u to pay stupid money (like a another seat on the plane). So many people I know who have fallen for this..
also, what an earth do you need all that for? I spoken to someone from Cairo who has come back and everythings fine tbh… its just a typical government over throw.
If anything, travel insurance is the issue i heard.

In an attempt to calm the situation, The local Authorities in Cairo have asked all car owners to get in thier cars and blow their horns or as it now called "Toot and Calm Doon"
Lorraine isn’t now going to Egypt 🙄 keep up folks
Lynn
Thanks Lynn, come on everyone, I am now in the Gambia, having a fantastic time! Got here yesterday, loving it.
Egypt is in the ‘bank’ with the travel agents, we will go in November, when we are in our next quiet period, after the holiday season. Assuming they have settled down over there, of course.Hope you are all warm, wrapped up warm, and working hard.
I, of course, am the first, but that is all!!!! Lol, Happy days!
Lorraine
