Been introduced to Antalis. They have a branch out here.
Whats your thoughts on them? I see they have their own brand of products. Pretty i wouldnt use any vinyl but surely banner, pop ups could be ok? Prices seem good compared to the comp. Especially the avery 1104 wrap. Few hundred a set cheaper than what im paying now
Read other threads regarding the firm. Not such great reviews but they were a few years ago

I wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole, and have told them in a far less polite manner before today.
If you like football, and taking penalties crack on cos they move the goal posts what feels like every dawn and dusk.
I’ve never known a company make it so difficult to work with.
Plus I hear rumours they’re on the verge of financial collapse.

Haha. I had the rep "pop by" the other week. Told me that the company always wins customers when we have a problem. And when that day comes for me I will call and they will smash the problem right out the park and deliver a service far beyond any other.
Am guessing not so much then.

What like when Robert Horne went tits up, and Antalis assured us they wont be selling all their stock to the big boy customers who we RHG customers, and they’d be putting their existing customers first.
Within weeks the free delivery went.
Minimum orders came, increased, and increased.
Minimum weight was the last crack pot idea I heard of.
Shipping stuff by courier not dedicated van, so getting reams of paper better to hell.
Basically dropped the smaller customers like hot potatoes. They’ve made their bed and they can lie in it.
Oh and don’t get me started on Premier Paper.
Another paper merchant who has seen the boom in the sign and display industry and trying to muscle in.
Good prices, with their own brand materials, but then go away and tell you you’re not eligible for a credit account.
They’re used to dealing with large commercial printers with £100,000’s of machinery in the place, employing pre press, press operators, finishers, delivery drivers… a different kettle of fish to your typical sign maker.
Sales reps who didn’t have a clue, then take on a knowledgeable rep I knew who moved on. I forewarned him when he called in, the uphill battle he was going to have.

Coala is an own brand name, and therefor the product can be changed to another manufacturer to suit the cost. Own branded vinyls are often tendered out to the most competitive manufacturer and then used as a fighting line. My customers tend to prefer a branded product over own brand, unless it’s for a roll up film or banner PVC then as long as it prints well nobody cares where it comes from.
I don’t know anyone that would touch an own brand wrap vinyl even at half the price.

Antalis has been bought by Japan’s Kokusai Pulp & Paper

When did this happen?

I think that was about a week ago David.
Yet another lifeline has been thrown to that company.
Unfortunately, for the investors, I doubt they could have foreseen this Corona situation around the corner. :awkward:

Strangely, we use Antalis quite regularly, and we’ve never had a single problem.
