Advice on Polishing Edges on acrylic
-
Want to do my own polished edges on acrylic sheets and would appreciate any advice on an best way of doing this. I know there are flame polishers and diamond polishers but not sure what the difference is or what other methods I should be looking at. I am not expecting to be doing lots of this sort of work so not to costly.
Thanks

Use a buffing wheel and polishing compound. This will only work well on simple shapes but not letters. Start by removing any saw cut marks by scraping the edges with a sharp blade then buff it up on the wheel. Cheap and simple.

Hi Mike,
Sound to simple, how good a finish do you get with this method?

My mate up the road to me does mine using Mikes method, always a great finish, takes a little practice especially on larger panels, no difference to flame polished imo.

Thanks Martin
I am certainly going to have a go at Mike suggestion. I have got a few off-cuts so nothing ventured nothing gained. Does anyone know if there is a particular polishing compound I need to use.
