  • why is my P630 plotter not cutting correctly?

Posted by bertsgraphics on July 4, 2007 at 6:33 pm

Hi All my name is Charlie and I Run Berts Graphics.

We have a problem of that when we send a job to the cutter of a large size, or batch cut, a shot while into the job the blade goes down and then returns to point of origin with the blade down so it cuts, wasting material.

Any idea what it could be? happens n every program even pltdraw.

im using P630 USB, new acer laptop. on a 10m extension USB Cable.

Any ideas anyone? driving me crazy and costing me money.
    any help is much appreciated.

Not sure here mate, But you said you are using a 10m usb cable. I’ve always been told to use a shorter one as the info starts to get scrambled.
I’ve never used a cable that long so have no experience of the problem. (?)

Er? 😮 Try using without cable? I said shorter mate, not no cable.
I don’t know your software, but you should be able to control the start and end points from your software. You did say you are using a new laptop. Maybe it’s set up wrong.

In flexi there will be an icon that looks like a Plotter in the cut menu. click this and it should read your media width. Not clicking this will cause problems.

don’t know this cutter but do you need to clear the memory, so it holds no reference to previous jobs 🙄 just a thought

manual! u got to be kidding its a p cut hehe.

When you say it pauses, how long have you left it? Mine when cutting a big job with lots of cuts to be done also pauses but after a while when it catches up then it restarts, sometime it can be as long as 5 mins.
Also check the baud rate, if not do as Lynn says and clear prefrences.

Is that supposed to be a dig at me David? 🙁
Who gives a toss what cutter i’m using. It works for me, and i did’nt say that i used Flexi, i actually use Signgo and Artcut.
I used to work for a firm that used Flexi, thats all i worked on. When i set up on my own i bought the cheapest set-up and it’s worked for me ever since. 🙁 🙁 🙁

    Jeese! Touchy!

It was actually a reference, almost an inside joke, to the PAST saga of £3000 software for £300 plotters. NOT directed at YOU or the original poster Charlie…just an of-the-cuff nod / smile to Brian’s comment.

I KNOW there is nothing wrong with Creation P-Cuts once you get them configured (what most posts concerning them are about) and the like and if I wanted a cheap machine for lighter use it’d certainly be one to consider. Also, if that’s all somebody’s budget stretched to – fine.

Now I’m NOT saying that the Flexi that’s being used is anything but 100% legitimate – as I don’t know and have no way of knowing. So NOTHING is being inferred by ME in ANY way.

Not sure you sorted it out yet but this sounds to me like you have setup the wrong p-cut in flexi.

I know this will sound crazy but you need to select creation-HK then CT-635

I had this problem after my comp crashed and I had to reinstall everything.

I had the same problem on my Pcut 630.
I got rid of the prob by getting rid of the USB cable and using the RS232 one.
