    A bowed machine?

I am getting a uneven cut across the width of machine. At the two ends it is fine but in the middle it wont cut. Have been doing short bits lately so not much notice taken until lately. Did a wide bit and WTF is wrong now was the words of the day. Had some clear film so but it in and cut from one end of machine to another. That’s when I could clearly see there was a major problem with the cut, as I could see the depth of cut easier. Both ends cut enough to cut paper backing on vinyl the middle was a bare scratch and completely missing in one patch. Its almost the machine had a bow in it?

Anyone have an idea whats up?

First thing I would look at is the cutting strip.

very rare but the ribbon cable to the head could have a make and brake in it. as you say its completely missing at one point.

Hmmm, cutting strips usually wear thin at the 0,0 origin rather than the middle, so it probably isn’t that now I think about it.

I’d be inclined to take the cover off and have a good look and a good clean and lubricate.
