    Hi everyone,

New to the sign making industry and the forum.

I have a question with regards to insurance if anyone can help.

I mainly make laser cut acrylic interior/exterior signs for businesses and shops etc, and I am just starting to make signs for people who are not ‘friends and family’ so seriously need to consider getting some sort of insurance. I recently spoke with sign elite, who suggested I get public and product liability insurance, however I just wanted to make sure I’m not missing anything. Will this cover me for any freak accidents that may happen, i.e a locator fixing fails and a letter impales someone’s head!

I have all the faith in my manufacturing and installation skills, but you never know!

    I appreciate any help!

Am not the best person to answer this as my business partner handled them.

But what we did is called and explained what we did. Explained certain signs would be a certain height. That sometimes we fit window graphics (all it takes is one trip and your windows gone) and that we move customer vehicles around etc.. just to make sure we were covered on everything.

I believe once you get to a certain height of the ground insurance goes up.

All in all we are around 90 something pounds a month with AXA. This includes the machines including theft and fire. Better to be safe and do it over the phone. Tick boxes can easily go wrong

    Hi Carlo,

We’re with Sign Elite for the second (or third) year running now and must say they have been been great and pricing is on point imo, Yeah theres possibly cheaper but these people know the sign industry so they have things in place for cover that a normal insurer may not such as heat gun use etc.

What i would say is, as long as your 100% honest with them when applying and realistic about your future year business activities then they will make sure your covered for what you need to be. Never be tempted not to mention something to get a lower premium as that something didn’t mention will be the thing that goes wrong lol!

    Thanks guys!

The lady I spoke to was very helpful to be fair, suppose I’ll just wait for her to come back with a quote and go through everything again to make sure I didn’t miss anything!

    Thanks again
