Weed boarder macro available for Corel Draw
Hi all, I have had the pleasure to test a pretty impressive weed border macro for Corel Draw 2018. It can put a boarder and horizontal/vertical intersecting lines on the job, give it an indentifying colour and even put them on a different layer. Ideal for print and cut and print, laminate and cut workflows.

This macro is free to download and use. It is a ZIP file so download – unzip and copy the GMS file in the GMS folder of Draw.
I’ve only tried it in Draw2018 and X8 and will probably work with others using gms macros.I will be happy to field any questions you may have either here or pm

Student versions of Draw don’t support macros but if yours is a full version the gms folder should be in the draw folder.
I seem to remember coming accross this before so I just created a GMS folder and put the file in it. Close Draw first though.
Explore the features this macro has and I think it will fit most peoples workflows one way or another. -
Martin, I don’t have X5 on this machine, would you mind trying the macro for me. I only fo back to X7 and it works in that.

will have a go at adding the folder when I get a bit of time!

Hi there. Ive just tried it and I think It is great. I have always made similar weed lines when I’ve had time but to do it with a few clicks is great.
Some instructions for anyone who is trying it who aren’t used to macros.
once you have downloaded it and copied it to the gms folder you need to restart coreldraw
to open the macro/app either press alt+shift+F11
or go to tools-macros-macro manager
then expand "JQ_Weed_Box" and then "JQ"
in there double click "start_weed_box" and it should openTo use it select the objects that needs the weed box and in the macro click "define Box"
add weed lines by clicking either "Horizontal" or "Vertical"
Drag them to where you need them
When happy click "create"I like it a lot. Thanks for sharing it (or creating it if it is your work)

I cannot claim any credit for the writing of the macro, Eskimo (his handle) got in touch with me and asked me test and make suggestions along with other signmakers. From our feedback he came up with this which I think is pretty good. I may well do a little tutorial video and post a link here which will explain some of the settings and their use in workflows.Also check out the 2 node lines feature as that in itself is also very useful . All intersecting lines are grouped so control clicking them will select them and you can delete any unwanted lines.
