Very detailed small logos in vinyl, advice please?
Hi All,
I have a potential job to produce lots of ‘sketchy’ vinyl graphics. Very detailed and some very small individual sections (1-1.5mm pieces, think distressed text etc).
I’ll need a vinyl that’s the best for weeding, bearing in mind it may take 10-15mins to cut each logo and may be sitting on the bench for an hour before I get to weed it.
I normally use Hexis stuff but it’s a nightmare for weeding, if I’m honest.
Any recommendations?

I’m having good results on very fiddly bits using Metamark M4 and M7.
Smart knifes from Harry at EDWARD MATHIAS & Co. Clean cutting strip on the Graphtec, tangential emulation on, taking it slow with the blade dialed in (sometimes making adjustments on different colours of the same product).

I’ll have a try with some Metamark, I’ve never used it. I have one of the Matthias blades which I use occasionally. At ‘normal’ speed, they take about 5 mins each to cut and 10 mins to weed, so I need to cut them reasonably fast as there could be 200 of them!

This may sound daft, but works a treat!
once the cutter has completed cutting the graphic, do NOT weed it.
Apply the un-weeded graphic to the sign panel. once applied and the application tape removed. NOW Weed the vinyl. much easier and faster and zero bits weeded away that shouldn’t have been.

yes, I’ve done this before, these are supply only though.
For future reference, I “back weed” tons of stuff.
Cut as normal, weed out centres (don’t have to do this now), cut any weed lines by hand with a scalpel, mount up, turn over and take off the backing sheet. Weed the outside away while it’s stuck to the application tape, being careful not to touch the adhesive….
..works a treat. T
he small stuff here is 1.5mm high with paintmask used as application tape
