    Hi Everyone,

    Long time no contact.
I am retired but I still do a little for friends and the village.

I have a recurring problem with my machine not printing yellow or magenta, which is due to the lack of use. But It has been three years since this last happened. Normally, repeatedly printing a panel of all four colours would see me right. But on this occasion it hasn’t played ball.
I carried out a manual clean. Cleaned out the Magenta/Yellow drain pipe from the cap and you wouldn’t believe what came out. I felt surely that would have cured it. I did two further power cleans but still nothing.
There seems to be ink in both tubes up to the head and both colours appear on the cleaning swob.

I had a lot of help last time from Kevin Mahoney but I can’t seem to find him.
Does anybody have any thoughts – Please?

Hi Harry, have you tried soaking the heads?

I would try soaking the heads and leaving them soaking as long as possible.
    i.e. 48+ hours

Combine this with other troubleshooting tasks and you might eventually get the ink to clear, but the longer a solvent machine is left idle, the inevitable will happen. 😕

    Hi Robert,

Thanks for your thoughts. I forgot to mention that I had actually done a head soak, admittedly only overnight and that did nothing. Another manual clean, double checking the drain tubes were clear and actually checking the ink was up to head (I did a medium clean after that and the air bubbles I caused in the two pipes were instantly cleared, leading me to believe that the cap seals were good and that the head must surely be ok) But still, neither colours showed on a print test, so I did further head soak last night. Still nothing!

My final attempt this morning was to disconnect the M/Y drain tube and suck ink through the head with a syringe. I sucked a total of around 50ml and convinced myself, it must work now? But after two further medium cleans, it still showed not the slightest hint of either colour.

Surely sucking ink through the head must show that at least some of the nozzles are clear? It’s as though that head does not exist.

Something else I forgot to mention was that I’ve never changed the dampers and didn’t think when I was in there that I should perhaps have at least ‘blown’ them out or cleaned them. But I figured if Isuced ink through the head that ought to be good enough. How wrong could I be ?

I’ve just set up another head soak.
