    Hi Guys,
i am having a problem cutting certain types of media in my verscamm. I have a 0.50mm offset smart blade in the machine, and some medias it tends to do a pounce style cut. I have tried different cut speeds and different cut pressures and it doesn’t seem to make a difference. I have bought two new roland blade holders and loads of new blades, but it doesn’t seem to help the problem.

in the past we had the problem with vinyl and swapping to the smart blade cured the problem. The media we are struggling with is a ttrh t-shirt transfer material

    Anybody have any ideas?

    thanks

    Dan

curiously have just cut the same material on another of our cutters and it has cut it perfectly, so it is the versacamm that is poorly, not dodgy material!

    any suggestions greatly appreciated!

    cheers

I sometimes have the problem you have described when cutting TTRH if I print and cut in one operation with a bleed on the artwork. The ink softens the media and it can cause the media to stretch and bunch up before it cuts it, giving it that ‘pounce’ effect.

My solution was to print with crop marks and allow them to dry overnight before cutting. It also helps reduce edge curl doing it this way.

Edit- just saw your recent post – if you are having this problem on unprinted media, maybe the heater on the versacamm is softening the material and causing the problem?

John, as Chris says it’s just a quick way to tell which blade is in the holder, I only have the blue tip holders which are 45 deg blade as I only cut vinyl, the red tipped ones are 60 deg blade for cutting stuff like flock.

Sorry Chris, not quite sure how I missed it but didn’t see the link you added.

Red for flock, and any thicker material, and especially reflective!
