• Van Price Check

Posted by Robert Walker on November 28, 2011 at 9:04 pm

    Evening All

Ive had a request to quote on the this van (pictured), They want the same graphics on a new van (they haven’t decided on what van yet)

As I’m a touch quiet at the minute I’d like to price this to win it but not go in too cheap as well,

    million dollar question

    what would you charge?

    any advice would be great

    Ta Robert

I’d go in at £600 especially with the mirror vinyl maybe £650.

What are you up against Robert?? What’s the market price for that sort of work round your way, you must have some sort of idea. What did they pay for that job and why aren’t they going back to the same company.

How many other sign companies have they approached if any ??

Obviously your location makes a big difference, if I went in at 650 as Jason has mentioned I would get laughed at round here, even at John’s price of 450 I very much doubt that I would get the job especially if they were shopping about. I don’t think either price quoted is expensive for what the customer is getting, I just know that I wouldn’t get it round here or maybe it’s just down to me not being a good enough salesman.

Hi Martin, I’m assuming there is work to do on the front and back. At a push I’d go to £550 if I was quiet but not worth it for anything less.

I’m with John, that part wrap and chrome going over the panel recess etc, not gonna be a five minute fit outside in the wind and rain!

i’d sell em on another design as quite honestly i’d be pricing that in order to avoid it i think.

It’s very complicated, and involves a lot of work (hence the high prices suggested), but quite frankly it’s awful!

If you really want to win this job, offer them a price to do something much better (shouldn’t be difficult) 😕

As Jason has said, £550. 8m of print @ £40ish per meter fitted works out at £360 then the chrome vinyl and standard vinyl. Then you have to fit it. Not to mention your design time. I know you have a design already but unless they give you a file already laid out you will have to sit down and re-design the job.
    Maybe push for more.

    It is sh!t though. 😉

Hi guys, it was a price request through my website so I’m guessing they’re shopping about, yes there’s work on the front and back. My main concern with pricing this is I’ve only ever worked with chrome on flat surfaces, i can’t even tell if they’re a local company as its a mobile number and there’s no web address and no joy from google.

Because it’s for a second van I’m guessing they would want to keep them the same.

They’re obviously not happy to go back to the company that did this to get their next van done and I don’t blame them…

Hence the reason for shopping around.

I would offer to do this for £650 + VAT on condition they sign an affadavit promising not to tell anyone you did it 😕

I did an astra van last week with no where near as many graphics as that for £300 + VAT …. I’m with phil although I would prolly be a touch less, around the £550 mark, You pay a bit more for experience like Phil’s

I’d do that for nothing……….after all look at the lessons that you’ll learn as far as layout and design are concerned.
I bow to the sign persons ability to attract so much attention to a heap of shit!

    Priceless 😀

Well thanks for all the replies,

i quoted at £600+vat and mentioned that id require 50% deposit and rest on collection, also that i could do a new "more up to date" design and he has come back asking how long it would take and how soon i could do it. he also mentioned how happy he was with the design he already has as it took him ages to do…….. i asked him how my quote compared to others and i seemed to be quite alot cheaper… i think everybody else was pricing themselves out of it,

I’m still a bit weary but as long as i get the deposit and Ive got some good locks on my doors and roller door…..

    will see

It’s always interesting to see what other people would charge, I know round here there’s very few companies who would pay that for vehicle graphics, and those that will go to the bigger sign companies. Leaving the smaller boys to pick up the left overs.

I do ‘cheap’ jobs, but only when they’re worth my while.
