Nice job – Although I don’t envy you.

I don’t entertain car wraps, I don’t have the patience for them, and they just don’t do it for me.

How long did it take for you to install?

Thanks David. I don’t mind wraps as long as I’m not being rushed, I’m married with 2 young sons at home who fight and argue with each other constantly so have lots of patience lol. It took the guts of 3 days including cleaning, removing the side skirts and bottom of the bumpers which were held on with what seemed like a hundred screws (getting too old to lie on the floor screwing parts off).

There’s definitely no great profit in car wraps, at least in our country. Gets our name out and about though which is good 🙂

I don’t think there’s much profit in wrapping in general.

I wrapped the front of a Boxer van in digital print, charged ~£1500 (going rate locally), took two days to install… earlier in the same week I did a van with an oversized logo on both sides, in an out within 90mins, for £500, less grief, but as you say the wraps make you stand out from everyone else who’s just doing the bog standard stuff.

Cheers Mark. It’s what I’d class as a “Marmite” colour. You’ll either love or hate it. Last couple of cars we’d in before were a Maserati, and a V8 Mercedes C63, both were wrapped a variant of GREY!! Grey of all colours, absolutely hate it. If I could afford a V8 twin turbo Merc you’d see it coming from a mile off with the colour I’d choose!

Thanks Leslie. If you met the owner you’d understand why it’s bright pink. Suits her perfect, a total “Barbie” girl if I ever seen one, yet very down to earth. Took the best part of 3 days with me shouting for a pair of hands every so often to help me stretch a few bits of vinyl into place.

Great work David, it is always good to see what others have been up to, mate.

What vinyl did you use to do this?
Did any areas give you issues, like the bumpers?
Looking at them, I imagine you may have had to apply some vinyl inlays?

Thanks for taking the time to post your work, David.

Cheers Robert. I really should post more of our work. We’ve a pile of pics sorted in a folder that never see the light of day 🙁 Used Hexis material for this one. Was my 1st time using it and have to say Oracal who we use for a lot of roof wraps etc may have lost a customer. Not as thick or tacky as 970 and doesn’t need handled with kid gloves like some other materials. Bumpers definitely needed a couple of inlays, my days of trying to be a “1 piece” hero are long gone. I’d rather have a discreetly hidden seam and know the cars not coming back for a repair, than force it into places I know now will fail. Was surprised with the end result. Stuck the 1st piece of wrap to the wing, stood back and said” Jesus that’s going to be hideous”. Had to eat my words by the time it was finished, we all did. Think the black parts of the body look really well with the pink. As far as I’m aware the wheels are going to get sprayed black shortly. Real girly girl owner lol

Oracal 970 is a great wrapping cast and is competitively priced.
However, it is a less malleable film “until” you apply heat, it then becomes very easy to manipulate, but you need to act fast with it or it cools. Unless you are in the perfect working environment, that will work against you!

I still use Oracal 970 for certain types of applications, but I prefer Arlon over it these days.
If I was doing a colour change wrap like the one in your photos, I would probably have gone to Avery Supreme or 3M, for colour choice and ease of application.

I saw you post this on fb, I like it! I part wrapped a smart car in hexis matt pink (candy / bubblegum) about 5 years ago, I saw it the other day and it wasn’t hanging.. happy !

5 years is good for sure. Don’t fancy removing it though, that glue’s going to be a b1tch to remove. Our vans wrapped 6 years. Going to remove our branding and sell it with the wrap still on

Yeah, I try and persuade clients to do this when they say they want a printed wrap. Firstly it’s cheaper and quicker to flood a wrap colour and then add the graphics, secondly there’s a chance the graphics remove clean when they sell the van, so no need to strip the whole thing – hopefully!
