Summa Cutter Software for Mac, Illustrator or stand alone software recomendation
Hi All
Our Summa software stopped working when our Mac updated and the developer has no idea when they will release a new version that will work so I’m looking for either a stand-alone cutting software or a plug-in for Illustrator but must be for Apple Mac.
Any help’s appreciated…
It does not have to be free software, just one that works and just for cutting as all the layout out work is done in Illustrator.

We asked this when researching a new plotter, and were told that there wasn’t an Illustrator plug-in for Mac, although they were looking into it. We ended up getting a Graphtec for this reason. Not sure about standalone software, nothing comes to mind unfortunately, but perhaps someone else may be able to suggest something.

Hi, I’ve recently experienced the same thing.
I am now using Easy Cut Studio, I just use it for cutting as all artwork is done in illustrator.
Another software for mac worth looking at is SignCutPro.

Have to say, I have never liked illustrator for vector work. I find it too long-winded to do things and limited in others. One big gripe is the fact your page size is limited when your using vectors? 😏
“If Signlab is available for Macs“, I would seriously consider it.
It comes in various modules too, from a basic package to full-blown design, print, and cut, even CNC Router and engrave.
We have 6 computers running with Signlab and have been 20+ years. I wouldn’t be without it.It is super-easy to get the hang of. I have had multiple designers hell-bent on illustrator switch quickly and effortlessly to Signlab, only to comment how a task in illustrator where 5 functions were performed, Signlab will do it in 2, etc.
Another software to consider…

Signlab is not available for Macs so that would mean installing parallels on the mac and then installing Windows and then Signlab on that Side. It will work bit it means having Windows and Mac open at the same time and that will slow your computer down.
On another note, Illustrator now has the ability to use a larger canvas, you just need to use inches as your measurement.
In regards to a plugin, I found the same issue an no useful plugin so I setup another computer and sent the files to that. I ended up used Summa GoSign in Windows.
