Hi all i have a new customer who is looking to supply various products (candles mainly) with different sized labels. She has given me some samples which i think she had printed directly by Avery so i assume it is one of their products but unsure which one. The material is very thin, un laminated and has an almost matt finish. There is no marking on the backing paper. I would like to quote with a like for like media. Has anyone printed labels and if so what media have you used please, many thanks jean

We print thousands of labels. For short term, we use Orajet 3164 matt or gloss. For long term, we generally use Metamark Mdi or MD5. You could use any brand really, just depends on how long they have to last.

    Hi Jean,

It sounds like your describing a roll label product used by roll label printers, these tend to be high volume runs and have a cheap unit cost.

If your printing latex, eco solvent or Uv like the comment before you can use a cheaper monomeric digital vinyl, make sure you choose the correct adhesive for your customer, either Permanent, hi tack or removable

Hi Jean! I hope you are doing well. Can you please share some sample work? I would like to know what exactly you want to make.

Depending how the customer wants them supplying, we often outsource labels, especially if they want them supplied on rolls. Perhaps I’m missing something!

How are you all supplying your labels?

Most of customers expect them on rolls, so whilst we can print & cut the labels, it’s the conversion onto rolls we struggle with.

It really depends on quantity & size. If large, we supply them as singles. If small enough, we do them multiple up on A4 sheets. If the client wants thousands, or on a roll, we generally outsource them.

    UPDATE

After all my running around the company decided to buy a small label laser printer and print the labels themselves. Makes sense for them so cant complain
