Would be interesting to know who created and installed the letters.
I took this short video of the Harley Davidson Sign in La Vegas when I was at Sign Expo. A similar type of thing to Starbase but I think the Harley Davidson letters were about 4+ foot high and those starbase ones look about 6 foot high and are raised off the ground.
In Vegas, I think the bulk of the major signs are created by Yessco sign company. -
Hmmm. Anyone else think the kerning is slightly out either side of the T? 😬🤣

I am not sure if it’s because of the “T” is top heavy and the “A” that it appears more spacious.
I was thinking the letters could have been raised more to make them more central to the background? 🤔

I understand this is probably part of the design they are looking for and cost them an absolute fortune to design, but am I the only one to hate this over-kerned lettering? (if thats how to describe it)

Personally I use this technique quite a bit, it emphasizes the name, & the client paid for the spaces, if normally spaced, it would have been half the size & half the cost

I understand what you mean Kev, but the canvas they have is a long narrow rectangle.
they have used the font and made the kerning about 300%, job done. but the designer price tag alone is probably higher than one of musks rockets!
Fair play if they can get it. maybe sour grapes on my part as i struggle to design a full van and get paid properly. 🤣-
An age old problem for sign people Jeff, wish I had a solution for you. Got to admire the designer having the nuts to put a big bill in for empty spaces though, a giant example of the emporer’s new clothes
