The crop sensor on my machine is playing up. The problem is intermittent, originally it seemed to be fixed after cleaning but the problem keeps recurring. An online search reveals that the cables wear in time causing this fault and the answer is to replace the sensor. Is this a job for a specialist or is it quite straightforward to replace? I’m worried that there are special adjustments that need to be made when installing a new sensor?

Have you tried cleaning the eye of the sensor? (Carefully!)

Yes -that seemed to fix it at first – but the problem keeps recurring

Hi Phill. Have a look at the attached file.

I’ve never had to replace one, try taking out part 9 (sensor) and 14 (sheet) and clean them both up as they’re usually minging!! You could run it without the sheet for now and see if it works but I wouldn’t recommend it long term.

It’s not a bad job to do, just a bit fiddly. You do so at your own risk of course. You’re looking at less than £40.00 + VAT for the 2 parts though so I wouldn’t worry too much about over cleaning them.
