• Soundproof Signage

    Hello all

I haven’t posted for a long time but seem to spend too much time on here looking through the posts and not enough time working.

I have a client who is making a podcast room. They are having it soundproofed but want a sign to go behind them.
They already have the EASITEX system at various locations, that we fitted. I have been unable to get a definitive answer from the supplier if this would be suitable in a soundproof room. My thoughts are it should as it is a fabric so any sounds would be absorbed.

Has anyone any experience of providing any signage for this kind of thing and may be able to point me in the right direction?

    TIA

    Iain

I would imagine that’s the best solution, the acoustic panels you can buy for recording studios have a fabric face to allow sound waves to travel through into the noise insulation foam. Would possibly be worth putting some foam on a frame just to cut out any resonance but again I’d expect that to be absolutely minimal.

I agree with David. The soft fabric face will help absorb “some” of the sound.
It is hard flat surfaces you want to avoid.
If the Easitex sign is large and you want a bit of soundproofing reassurance, I would staple a thick soft bath towel, or similar, flat behind the sign, within the Easitex frame. Any sound that passes through the thin polyester will be totally absorbed by the towel.
You aren’t going to see the towel and I just mean a single layer of it.

I have a mate that lined the walls of a small room with thick towels to soundproof it, and it was the oddest sensation when you were in it and you spoke, you felt like you had earphones on or something, just weird because of how well it cancelled sound out.
