  • Software to add cutline & sublimation Profiles

Posted by David Stevenson on May 10, 2019 at 9:05 am

Hi, I’m hoping someone can help me out. We’ve been approached by a local charity who work with children & adults with downs syndrome to see if we can help them with some new equipment they’ve bought. They’d like to teach them how to make things like T-shirts, sublimation mugs, gift cards etc. but they weren’t aware that they needed software capable of adding cut lines & sublimation profiles. Can anyone recommend some cheap / free software that can be used for this? I’m thinking even an old version of Adobe Illustrator would do the job. Unfortunately they haven’t the money to pay for Adobe subscription I’d really appreciate if anyone could help me out with this.

    Many Thanks,
    Davy

I don’t use it but Inkscape is very useful for vector work and free, I would be surprised if you could not enter a cut line with it as well.

There’s also a plugin/bolt-on for Inkscape called InkCut that does just what it sounds like you’re looking for – free as well. well worth looking up

I’ve got a copy of Illustrator CS3, but it’s Mac only.

Thanks Jamie but it’s pcs their running. Got Pageplus for the basic stuff but they’ll need something better for the sublimation work.

CorelDraw Graphice Suite would be a good bet I would think. Not free but there’s loads of older versions going cheap on eBay. Even v12 should be able to do everything you need. CorelDraw is vector based which should satisfy your cutting path requirement and the suite also includes Corel PhotoPaint for the raster based artwork. Worthwhile looking into.

Good man Neil. Something that covers everything would be ideal, that might do the trick. I’d need a crash course as well though, been using illy for years but can’t get a cheap version of that.

as neil said coral will do all they want just had a play with inkscape could do most simple things and lots of vector tools but could not find how to create a spot colour for a cutpath. there probably is..
coral 12 or X3 will do fine .

Has anyone any idea why Coral is so cheap on eBay? Seems a tenner can buy you v12 with a lifetime licence! Sounds suspiciously dodgy to me!

I bought a copy. It was blocked within a month.

Thought I’d chance my arm and ask how they were selling it so cheap. Did not expect this response! If I wanted that I’d download it myself on Pirate Bay.
