Posted by Karen White on March 8, 2021 at 11:56 amI currently have this playing in the background as I work. I had no idea this website had been going so long, or that Rob was Scottish!

Rob is a man of mystery for sure and a credit to the Sign Industry. The Fred Dinbah of the UK sign industry. 🙂

What can I say but, “ignorance is bliss”.
I knew this site has been around a long time because I registered on it a good while back now. But I would never have thought Rob was involved in so many other things related to our industry. Particularly with him being President of ISA-UK and the work he does with global companies. No wonder he doesn’t find time to sleep! 😃
Impressive and very interesting to listen to while working. 👍

I was just Rob Lambie.
So yeah, take it on.
Hat’s off to you sir, I knew you were good, but, damn!

Rob is an inspiring young man, certainly doesn’t let the grass grow under his feet.
Bit of a lazy git only working till 3am in the morning though.😉
Congrats on 20 years of the signboards this year. I’m in my 16th year as a member and have had some great meets and laughs along the way. I couldn’t imagine running my business without this valuable source of information to hand.

Wow, what can you say to that!
It is great to listen to this type of thing when it is so close to home and relevant to what we do daily.
Impressive stuff Rob, thanks for sharing. 👍

Thanks very much for the kind words, everyone. really appreciate the comments! 👍
I am completely out of my comfort zone doing this sort of thing, nerves getting the better of me and having to watch how I speak because my accent can get pretty strong if I forget myself. So I am glad you could at least understand me! 🙂 When I did the video testimonial for Arlon, they put subtitles below me! 🤣🤣

Rob, you make us all look like slackers,
I’m about 6 hr. behind you, so when I text or message you, I don’t expect a reply til the next day. Often you respond right away. Now I know why… you never sleep. 🙂
What accent? I’ve been listening to Nathan Evans for a month straight now…
🙂
You and your family are one of a kind. Best Wishes from Canada.

I listened to this interview again and I have to say that Rob is very much on the nose with all of what he says regarding vinyl accreditations. I do not know much about them, but I have heard of several companies having all their staff accredited in wrapping. How can that happen in one go? And if it can, maybe he is correct and it is easy if you buy enough vinyl?
The sign industry is really not regulated in any way. at least that I know of! Other than CSCS and IPAF Cards is there anything else? The more that I think about it the more I can see why we have so many 🤠cowboys sprouting up everywhere which is really frustrating and takes the enjoyment out of making signs for a living. 😏

I do not have a wrap accreditation and I may well not be good enough to get one! but what lambie says in this interview is correct in many ways. furthermore, if manufacturers actually did give work as part of a network in return for getting an accreditation it would really make me consider investing time and money in proper training and gaining the certificate for my efforts.
