Signlab v7.1 and Windows XP
Posted by John Singh on March 5, 2014 at 10:55 pmI’ve been running Signlab v7.1 along with XP for years now
Didn’t realize how long I’d had itOf course now we won’t be getting support or updates for XP from April
If I get a new computer or update Windows to say 7 or 8 will it support my Signlab?John Singh replied 11 years, 4 months ago 5 Members · 10 Replies -

John, couple of options, you won’t need to worry about not getting any updates for windows xp if you keep the computer off the internet.
If you upgrade to windows 7 & get either the pro or ultimate edition you can run something called xp mode which will run most software that previously ran on windows xp.
You could also install something like vmware player which is a virtual computer & then install windows xp on that to run all your old software.

I have an XP and a Win 8 machine and both run SignLab 8, I move the dongle back and forth as required. I still need the XP machine to run my Roland printer, it’s on the edge of my understanding of computing but Roland say my printer can’t be run from Win 8. Apparently sending file via a print server might solve the problem.

Thanks for that guys
trouble is I’ve just got the Versacam 300i the other day which needs to be connected to the router and I send files from Signlab through the router to the Versa
Me thinks I’ll need to upgrade Signlab!!!…….. and Windows………and the computer 😕

Officially 7.1 has not been tested on Windows 7, but it does seem to work OK, as long as you have it updated to build 10. Signlab 7.0 Will not work.
Your Versacamm 300i should not be a problem as it runs via a network connection, the original versacamm SP-300V which only had a USB port has problems because there is no driver to support the USB in windows7. -
Oh! How do I go about getting build 10 and what does it cost?

To update, go to Start > Programs > Signlab 7.1> look then for the Update Signlab option, choose the website option and then click the download File button, this will then go and search for the file needed and download it. When this is complete, the Finish button will become available, click this and follow the prompts to install.
When the file is downloading, sometimes the window will show, "Not Responding" ignore this, it will download the file.
