    Hi Folks,,

I need help 🙁 I know ancient equipment but I am trying to set up an old cutter I have with signlab 5 running on XP.

Using HPGL Driver , when I go to cut it sends the bytes over but the cutter shows Error 15 and also says Error in I/O Transmission.

It did start cutting but only about a minute after the bytes were being sent and it still showed the same message. But now it doesn’t even do that , I must have changed something.

I have checked on the graphtec manual disc but I’m still none the wiser.

Anyone with any ideas…probably something really simple (?)

How do you connect the plotter to the PC? Com port or LPT port?
If com port it is likely the settings are different on the PC to those on the plotter. You can interrogate the plotter to find the RS232 settings. (sorry, I don’t know how!), In Signlab you need to go to Cut> Plotter Setup > then ALT +E and it will open a notepad file. Look for the line named Commset. it will be something like Commset=9600,n,8,1,p

    9600 is BAUD rate
    n is None parity
    8 is Data bits
    1 is Stop bits
    P is hardware handshake

Likely changes are for parity or Handshake (also known as Flow Control)
For parity you can have O (oh) = Odd or E= Even
For Handshake you could have X=Xon/Xoff, or C=CTS only

Make changes and save the file to apply them.

One other thing to mention if the line shows as ;Commset=9600,n,8,1,p, you need to remove the ; for these values to be applied.

You could also make these changes in the port settings on the PC.
