Sign Locator glue
Posted by Phill Fenton on December 16, 2015 at 10:42 amCan anyone recommend a glue to be used for gluing sign locators onto the back of flat cut lettering? I’ve always used Tradefix Sign Adhesive in the past but can’t seem to get it any more?

Yvonne at Amari 07545 060353 – I would imagine is your rep Phill as she is mine. They do various depending on the materials being joined. Tensol is what we use for acrylic etc, 3M two part adhesive for others. I forget the product codes etc but we get both through Amari.

Phil i’ve always used Simson ISR 70-03 can be got with a primer & prep M will bond disimilar products and allows for movement very strong and have used for glueing sign channel on 3mtr x 1.5 pole sign over 5 years ago and it is still hanging today. Amari etc normally stock it not cheap but a very good multi purpose product

I generally use Eurobond Adhesives for most of what I do, Penloc is the one I generally use for sign locators but will depend to a degree what your bonding them to. If I am unsure then I just call them & they have always been very helpful.
Only downside is that most of these 2 part adhesives seem to have a shortish shelf life.http://www.eurobond-adhesives.co.uk/str … sives.html

thats the nice thing about the Simson single part can be left and then unsealed and go again with the prep clean and primer it will bond virtually to all materials even direct to brick. I have also used primer & cleaner with double sided tape etcKev

Phil,
Like Martin I have used Penloc from Eurobond with success for several years however as he says it has a short shelf life which means ordering just for the job in hand. It’s not a clear adhesive which may be a nuisance in some instances.
I like the sound of the Simson adhesive. -
Tensol 70 – 2 part for acrylic.
Usually get 18mths out of a bottle. About £35 – £38 for 500ml (goes a LONG way).
If just bonding ‘cheap’ internal PVC panels on locators – ‘mitre-fix’ superglue works wonders.

Steve, they do a version called Penloc gti clear which is great for bonding clear acrylic.
Like the idea of Kevin’s suggestion as well, will have to look into that if it has a longer useful life.
