not the best of photos but the vinyl went on so very well..

    thanks for looking

great work mate, very nice indeed.

mactac 9800? thats not a wrap vinyl? not knocking it because i know its a nice vinyl and no real heavy stretching needed. just curious incase i have the series wrong.

thanks for taking the time to post your work mate.

Very cool. I’m surprised you managed to do such a good job with the 9800 as it’s not actually a cast either IIRC.

    Robert, Jon

your both correct the 9800 is not a conformable vinyl.

as far as i’m aware (talking to various suppliers) we cannot find a true conformable matt or satin black vinyl.

our only choice was to mat laminate some gloss mac fleet. in the end i worked with the customer and he knew there is / was a chance of the vinyl failing.

it went on so very well. much better then mac fleet. so time will tell.

    thanks again
    Rick

Well it seems to have gone on a treat.

We’ve been asked to wrap a Merc saloon in white vinyl, anyone recommend a good vinyl for this? I’m thinking a basic cast white might show the colour underneath?

we’ve used mac fleet in the past to do colour changes. goes on ok.

The 9800 like you said isn’t a wrap vinyl. I used it about 6 years ago on an escort van with an image going the full length. Wrapped it round the wings and the recesses and as far as I’m aware it’s still on and hasn’t budged.

it depends what the original colour is but go for a cast oe wrap vinyl, with grey adhesive, then opacity is not much of a problem

There isn’t a nice matt black in cast vinyl. Best looking one in my opinion is the 3M Serie 50 matt black, has the best matted surface. The MACal 9800 is close behind it though.

Nice job. Would have been cool to add some gloss black in there aswell though, in my opinion.

agreed about the matt and gloss black. i pleaded with the client to let me use gloss black rather then the green for the thorns but he wanted maximum impact rather then subtle..
