i think the best on the go just now is beeline..
so much it will be on sale in the new sign shop opening here on the site… this is not why im telling you this.. i simply will only sell products that “I” rate as being the best on the market… most graphics are sort of cartoons but there are still great graphics…if you come across anything better, please let me know?

you could do worse than buying a copy of Corel…though they’re currently on version 10 or 11?, you can pick up an earlier version (V7 perhaps) for just over £100 and not only does it contain CorelDRAW (a popular and versatile vector art package) and CorelPHOTOPAINT (a brill bitmap editing suit) but it comes with around 22,000 pieces of clipart (or some ridiculous number anyway).
A great many people on here and in the trade use it both as a secondary package and even to cut from (but I think that needs a small ‘link’ program?)
hope it helps…

thanks fellas ,robert can you tell me more about beeline or a link to a site and how much etc etc
mike is that coral better and adobe illustrator i have been using a demo which runs out soon.
Am i right in thinking its called coraldraw 7 or just coral -
Richard…though everyone knows the title ‘Adobe Illustrator’ and that it is a market leader, I’ve never used it and so can’t comment…Corel is known as CorelDRAW7 etc., there is only one family of Corel as such…
I have used Corel for years, mainly because way back in a time when everyone was still getting into computers – a great many customers would bring me stuff they had played around with on Corel so I started using it so as to be able to view their work…

I have Corel 8 and there’s plenty on it but I rarely find anything that appeals. I also have Art Explosion 150,000 which is a plain and simple package from PC World and the like. Cost about £35. I think it’s now Art Explosion 500,000. It doesn’t come with an illustrative book as does Corel and has a lot of rubbish on it as well but it has about 75,000 Vector Graphics with most directly cuttable or editable without too much difficulty.
Great inspiration too.
We have a discount bookshop which also sells what I would call rubish CD’s and picked up 500 fantastic fonts for £3 a while back. I think their part of a national chain…’The Book Store’?

thanks mike going to go on ebay and have a look out for it now
martin its funny you saying Art Explosion 500,000 as i was looking at that last week end didnt buy it as i thought the images were of no use to me so lets get this right i thought the only thing i could cut was an eps file so am i right in thinking i need to open up the clipart and resave it as an eps file or am i just going mad……………………..help 😳 -
oh just to say sorry for picking your brains but if any one need help painting 3 stage pearls or chromaflair then im here to help 😕

I produce everything in Corel Draw and export as an EPS to a Script folder on my C: drive which I then open up using SignScript which is a very basic cutting package that came with my plotter. I don’t know any different.
When you view in Wireframe in Corel you can see what will cut directly and what won’t.

The art explosion cd is mainly aimed at people looking for images to print, all of the clipart on these CD’s is obviously printable, when it comes to plotting you have to be a little bit careful, some of the clipart will plot with very little editing, some of it requires a lot of editing and some I just wouldnt bother with. We use it quite a bit and for the money it is well worth having. Just watch when you are designing that what you use is easy to edit before you show anything to a customer.

nother fairly good source for software (programs and clipart) are the computer fairs. A lot of the programs tend to be OEM, but they still perform as they should. I’ve obtained quite a few clipart collections this way. Biggest bargain though was a couple of years ago, IMSI Masterclips 100.000 full whack for £30.00, it normally retailed then around £65.00. The other was Corel Gallery 100.000 for £10.00 only problem was the program didn’t have the english version on it, but who cares when it’s the pictures your after.
Look at a few of the computer magazines in the newsagents, they sometimes come with a free clipart disc (This months PC Advisor has one on it)

mike recomended coral as it was more in my price range i got a new cory for under £30.00 new for coral 8 -

unless I’m reading this wrong – Corel usually ‘imports’ *.AI files…so open a blank page in Corel and then ‘import’ the relevant file…

Hi
You have to use import to get *.ai or *.eps files into Corel. as with most othet design software.
For Clip art you could try Vector Art Mega Collection, all in eps and ai format ready to import.
Cutting siftware Vinyl Master Pro, you could ty it.
