  • Quick & cheap sublim printer & ink supplier please?

I know this type of question has been asked a million times, usually from ‘newcomers’.
I have got the expensive set-up from Novachrome, with their inks, A3 Epson, software etc, and have had problems with it from day one, so that it all sat unused for several years. I’ve tried unblocking the nozzles etc, to no avail. Apparently I have to throw the almost new printer away!

Now I am getting more and more requests for sublimated goods (and I have the stock, unused), but I don’t want to spend hundreds on a new printer, so, I’m looking for a cheap-as-chips A4 printer and inks, one that can be throw-away if it goes badly wrong, as my ££££ one did.
A supplier name is really all I am after, someone in the UK that I can order from and get set up within a few days.

    Any help appreciated,

    Thanks
    Lorraine

go for the small ricoh A4.. inks aren’t that cheap (sawgrass) but I reckon it’s probably as good as you’ll get, I have the A3 version and it’s faultless. ink levels havent moved in around 80 prints..

    Hi Lorraine.

My 1400 is close on dead, a new head was silly money, but I was surprised to learn that heads from some cheaper machines only costing £200 were the same.

    Might be worth considering.

Thanks for the link Hugh, I will consider, but they are selling the same dye-sub inks and Powerdriver that I already have, the ink pouches are full still, although out of date now, sure they are still good. Was looking for refillable (empty) carts (I think!). I just don’t want to discard everything, there must be an answer, just got no-one to ask!

Denise, I wouldn’t have a clue how to change the head, and got no-one to do it. (Geoff is worse than useless with anything to do with computers). I asked the printer seller locally and he told me I’d need a new printer, as did Epson. 🙄

Do I sound as confused as I feel? I wouldn’t stand out in an elderly care home posing as one of the residents, lol!

check the top one Lorraine, they run on gel inks, supposed to not block like the inkjet printers.

Hugh, to be honest, I am thinking of a REALLY cheap set-up with re-fill able inks, because I had bought the large ink sachets from Novachrome, and they are unused, (virtually) so thought I would siphon the inks off to refill carts in a cheapo printer. There must be some way that I can get some of my money back …..A3 Epson, Novachrome full set-up with Powerdriver, lots of extra’s, all laying unused, plus the mugs, money boxes etc etc…

    Sorry, going on…
