  • Production Manager does not have USB ports in list.

    Hi everyone.

I hope someone can shed some light on my problem as I am pulling my hair out.

I have Flexi 10 which I have just put on my laptop. I intend to use my older CE 2000 on the road hooked up to the laptop. There are USB001 – USB004 available in the printers and faxes. The CE 2000 is connected to USB002.

However in Production Manager, there are no USB001, USB002 etc ports in the list.

Can anyone tell me how I can direct production manager to the correct USB port?

By the way, I have a USB to Parallel cable for use with the cutter.

I have kind of sorted the problem. I dug out my old laptop and connect everything up and hey presto!!! it all worked.

Old technology, seems to save the day again.

    Thanks for looking.

    Hi Neil,

its not a driver problem is it?

I know I have to add my summa drivers when I do a new install (Have flexi 7.5 which had been acting very flaky so did countless re-installs until worked out had a duff/corrupt plug-in).

Neil, does your old laptop have a parallel port or have you connected it up the same way via USB ?

Could be a driver problem if your new laptop’s running windows 7, not sure if the 2000 series is supported under windows 7 with it being a discontinued machine.

Don’t use flexi myself so not familiar with the set up in production manager but if the machine is running from a parallel cable with a USB converter then it may well show up as a parallel device. Did you have any option to connect to LPT1 or LPT2 in production manager?

No I connected it up with the USB to Parallel cable.

Both machines are running Windows XP Pro.

Both machines have USB Printer Support in the Device Manager, so they recognise the cable.

The only difference is that the USB port is available in the Production Manager of the old machine running Flexi 10 while in my newer machine does not.

    Martin,

Not sure, Windows XP uses the same Microsoft driver on both computers. So it should work the same as both machines are XP SP3.

All I know is that it works on one and not the other. So it will get me out of a hole.
