  • Price Check – Partial Car Wrap

Just finished installing this job today, I think I have undercharged:

    Materials
    8m Red 3M 1080
    3m Yellow 3M 1080
A few roll ends of Metamark M7 vinyl for the text, and tiny full colour logo on MD5.

    Labour/Time
Removal of the rear bumper and trims.
Design was supplied by the customer, just needed reworking to fit on the Juke.
2 of us Spent 2 hours stripping the car last night
2 of us on the job from 5am this morning till 12:30, then just me finishing it off from 12:30 to 4pm. :yikes:

I didn’t cut any vinyl until today, as I wasn’t 100% sure on the fit as I hadn’t seen the car, so probably took longer than usual.

So what would you think is a reasonable rate to charge for this?

Gill, bang on, we were £550+vat.

Just took us 13 hours, to produce and install it, just sounded cheap, considering the man hours.

I agree – it probably is too cheap, but always seems that way on a one off or first of a fleet.

Most of our work is repetitive fleet work, when we do a one off vehicle it never fails to surprise me how long it takes!!

Maybe I should make a note to remind myself for next time!!

We just finished a fleet of 10 vans, I was surprised how easily it was to do them! Wish we could get more like that!

Perhaps if I had cut the vinyl prior to the car arriving, it would have speeded things up.

Another £100 would have been nice too!

I would have been looking for about £700 plus anything else i can get out of them 😛 +vat

Do not look on the man hours as an expense you need to cover. look on it as experience as it is just that and you will need lots of difficult jobs ahead of you to gain the best experience which will in turn speed you up on the long run giving you the money you want long run.

You are always going to be up against cowboys using the wrong media. remember and sell your product and services on this before price.

a tip on your yellow line…
use knifeless tape or wrap cut and apply the line you want using that first.
apply the read, then the yellow.
then remove the cutting filament and it will leave you with a butt join. practice it using waste first though.
    OR
apply the tape where you want the yellow to finish.
    apply the red.
then apply the yellow right on top.
now cut the both lines together again and it will leave a layer job with a neat finish.

    Cheers Rob.

The red and yellow were cut with knifeless tape, never thought to try and butt joint them. Wouldn’t an overlap be better to prevent water ingress.

We were up against it as my dad had to leave at 12:30 for an hospital appointment, so needed to get the wrap done and car back together, then I could stick the logos and text on at my leisure.
