Hi Lee, best go and say ‘hello’, you may get more replies if people have an idea who they are ‘talking’ to.
I have had this problem in the past, usually is because the printer port is wrong (my old CX24 is still on parralel port). Otherwise could be something designed in another program, such as Corel, I have had extra lines cos the graphics are put together differently. If you are able, look at the outlines in Corel, see if they show then.
Someone else may be along to help soon 🙂

What version of Signlab do you have? Signlab 7/8/9 ?
If you have Signlab 7/8 , did you install the Windows Printer driver for the GX500? You need to make sure it is installed. Signlab 7/8 use the Windows printer driver to send and recieve data to and from the cutter.
Also, in Signlab 7/8, you need to make sure that your Port Location in Cut/Plotting Defaults/Setup , is set to "External DLL". Siily name but Roland supplies comanies with a 3rd party DLL to talk to thier printer driver.
For Signlab 7/8 make sure that you are NOT cutting to a port called "Roland GX500_USB001" or anything like that. This could cause the problems you describe. If you have Signlab 9, go to Start/Programs/Signlab and click on Update Signlab if the computer is on the Internet. This will get you the latest.
You can then cut to Roland_USB001 if you want. I would still recommend installing the printer driver.
I would still recommend cutting to Externall Dll as Get Page Size will not work
cutting to Roland_USB001. Get Page size will only work via Externall DLLFYI, i work at cadlink and write the cutter drivers for Signlab .
Hope this helps -
great thanks for the replies everyone. I have signlab 9 will try out this at work first thing thanks frank
will let you know cheers -
hi frank i have signlab 9 updated. I have been using the port GX500_USB001 which I have the problems with. I have tried changing to port external dll but I am unable to cut from that , any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

If you have the latest sl 9.1 you should be Ok cutting to the Roland Usb port. Go to Help/About Signlab. In there it should say that you are on Jan 25 2013. Try cutting with some scrap material.
By the way, what if any error message are you getting when you try to cut with the port set to externall DLL. Do you have the Windows Printer driver installed?

hi frank sorry for the delay, had a nightmare this end! I checked the date in about signlab and it was on 2011, was unable to download the latest, so signlab did it remotely .This has solved the problem of the random lines. There was no error message when I changed the port to external dll, tried it again out of curiosity still with no luck. also with roland usb port still with no luck. so I am using the gx500_usb001 port. but the problem I have now is , when I send a big job through the bytes stop and freeze for sometimes a couple of minutes, and on some jobs the cut stops before it has finished. just one problem after another. have you got any ideas frank. thanks lee p.s yes I have the windows printer drivers installed
