  • Pixmax Cutter, will this do as a temporary plotter, advice please?

Posted by Suzie Davison on January 13, 2019 at 8:02 am

    Hello.
Has anyone used a Pixmax plotter? I am looking to buy a plotter such as a Summa (which I’ve used before and are brilliant). But because of my location it’s proving difficult to find one (most sellers don’t want to use couriers).
I have jobs lined up so need a plotter fairly quickly and saw the Pixmax ones. Has anyone tried them?
    It needs to work, basically.

    Thanks in advance

I think it really depends on if this is a cheap Chinese type cutter?
If it is, then I would stay clear and just bide your time for a reputable brand.
there are forums here on UKSB covering these type machines and they are more trouble than they are worth, that’s not my personal feedback, just fact of the countless people being stung by purchasing via eBay.
the main issue from memory is instructions are normally in Chinese or similar, and support is non-existent or very limited via email in broken English with 48hr+ time delays in responses.

that said, I have never heard of this cutter and may well get you by the beginner stage of your startup business.
i would maybe contact the seller and see the type of help you get prior to making the purchase and what sort of guarantees they will give you, if any.

Thanks so much for the reply,
Yes I feel loathed to buy something that might not work. I presume it’s Chinese, it’s for sale on amazon and the reviews aren’t marvellous. But I might lose possible long term clients by not being able to do the work.
I will contact the company and see what they say about guarantees etc.

    Thanks again :smiles:

I’m uncertain why a reputable supplier of Summa cutters won’t ship to you in Spain, have you tried some of the UK sellers, like Perfect Colours? there are others of course, you’ll find them on this forum with a search or three.

I bought my first Summa cutter (new) on ebay 15 yrs ago, it came by courier, as did my subsequent summa cutters.

I’m buying second hand and most sellers are reluctant to send by courier here. I’m still undecided what to do!

ah, maybe buy one where someone local can collect and then ship it to you? I always keep the boxes / packing from large buys like a new cutter but I guess most just discard them!
