    Hi

As mentioned in another post I am new to Onyx and I have been watching videos all day trying to get my head around it, the thing is I am coming from a mac and I will continue to use a mac so windows is all new to me other than when using Parallels and running Versaworks.

I have now setup another computer to run windows, I’ve managed to connect them and just figured out the hot folder (although I’ve not set this up yet).

Can the same be done with Cut Server? I can’t see how?

Because I am working on a mac, I would like to design my file and drop the pdf into onyx to either print or cut, from what I can work out Onyx only accepts svg and xml. I know svg is a vector but I’ve always stayed clear.

    Thanks

I don’t use cut server in Onyx, but you can certainly drop PDFs onto a hot folder to print them. You can also use Illustrator files. Just make sure that any layers which you don’t want printing are turned off before sending.

Why is that Jamie? What do you use and do you find your option is better?

I was always cutting master and Versaworks, never really liked the latest cutting master though but had to use it as it was the only 64bit version and mac only runs 64bit now.

I did like the simplicity of using illustrator and just sending the file.

We’ve always used FineCut on our Mimaki plotters, and just got used to doing it that way. Now we’ve got a Graphtec, we use Cutting Master in a similar manner, just as an Illustrator plug-in. We may look at cut server in the future, but for now, we’re happy as we are.
