Hi all, I might have a job coming up that involves putting yellow lettering onto a dark green van, the vinyls I use most (Image Perfect 5700 & Metamark M7) seem quite transparent and the colour changes to a totally different yellow once stuck on, this only seems to happen with yellows.

I remember when I worked for a firm years ago they got round this by doubling up the vinyl when going onto black or any dark colour, but surely there must be a better way.

Does anyone know a vinyl manufacturer that does less transparent yellows?

Done this befre and got round it by laminating the yellow onto white grey back print vinyl then plotting, worked a treat!

Thanks Craig, I did think of that and it might be a last resort, trouble is I’ll have to do it by hand as I don’t have a laminator.

you might be being overcritical over your own work because you know it isn’t as bright as on the roll.

i did similar for a company logo on a black van and when i explained to the customer what i had to do to keep the vibrant orange and yellow. they just shrugged and said great, thanks. 🙄

You may well be right here, we’ve all probably had the situation where we’re not completely happy but when the customer sees the finished job they don’t bat an eyelid.

I’ll have to look at the other vans they’ve got and go from there.
