  • Moving the mouse to evenly alter a rectangles dimensions

Posted by Dave Sanders on January 27, 2025 at 2:05 pm

    Hi Folks,

    I’m trying with Signlab 7.1..(still wanting 4.95!?)

Whenever I need, which is daily, to make a rectangle, with or without rounded corners etc etc., i simply click on the screen and drag to increase or decrease the size of the rectangle, or square, but I cannot seem to make differences or small differences.. it just seems to ‘jump’ in large increments therefore making it very difficult to get a precise size.. I have looked at the mouse, tried different one’s and altered settings to experiment with on the mouse’s settings.. but still struggle..

Could anyone advise on my negligence or even intelligence here please?

    Regards,

    Titch

I think it will most likely be a signlab preference setting.

    Doing this from memory…
Check you don’t have the setting applied, “snap to grid”.
Also, that your not zoomed in very close on-screen, when you are starting to design.
Also, try turning off the “sign blank”.

I use Signlab 10, but on there, on the tabs along the top, look for:

    OPTIONS> SNAP TO> GRID

    Make sure GRID is un-ticked
Make sure SIGN BLANK is un-ticked

Personally, I prefer nothing selected for snap-to.

      Rob,

      Thank You…

I’ve unlocked Grid and what a difference!!

Thank You.. isn’t it so that ‘every day’s a school day’

I do tend to like showing a Blank size on the screen, (habit?) but with the Grid un ticked what a difference this makes working with this..

      Thanks so much, again..

Great stuff, glad you’re sorted, Dave. 👍

    Sign blank:
I find it a bit restrictive.
We just create a rectangle, and size it. then design on top of that.
It also allows you to design multiple signs on-screen at once, and save them as a group/project if required.
