  • Low tack stencil vinyl and application tape

Looking for advice from anybody who has experience of these types of materials.

A friend has asked me if I can supply a low tack stencil to allow them to paint on aircraft registration letters. I have seen low tack stencil vinyl, but have never seen an even lower tack form of application tape.

Does anybody know a product name and supplier for these? I don’t want to get the wrong stuff and the stencil peels off when they try to remove the application tape.

    Thanks in advance,

    Pete J.

Hi peter, its my understanding that most suppliers have a form of low tack application tape. They come in 3 strengths, low, medium, high

As Martyn Says, you will find stencil vinyl from most suppliers.
I normally use oracal paint mask and just use regular paper application tape.

Based on what you guys said, I had a look around the shop and found an old-ish roll of low tack transfer paper.
It still felt that the tack of the paper was greater than that of the stencil vinyl I had. So I made a small test template, applied the low tack paper and then applied the whole thing to the side of my van.
The app paper came off very easily but didn’t disturb the stencil at all. So it appears that this is the right combination for my needs.

Thanks Martyn and Rob for your responses.
