Therefore no money passes hands.
Sort of "I’ll fix your car if you make me a sign".
It’s being advertised on the radio.
Personally, I like M-O-N-E-Y!See here: bartercard.co.uk

Funny this should come up I was at a local business Link networking evening last night and came across a guy from bartercard, I don’t know if its the same company, but what he was doing or his involvement was taking spare capacity off peoples hands in the form of raw materials, space or anything you don’t really need anymore. I thought it was a good idea but as gray said not worth the money you have to pay out to join

wonder if HM Inland Revenue or Inspector of Taxes does Bartercard? its a load of tosh

I’ve been in Bartercard for about eighteen months. I’ve been trying to get out of it for the last twelve. It helped me in the beginning when I needed experience. People would deal with me if I accepted it rather than spending cash. So I ended up getting lots of work on it.
At the time this was great. I bought my plotter and software on it, along with some groovy bits for around the home.
The fees however kill you.
I’ve regurlarly had to pay between $350 up to $750 per month in fees ( cash), along with having to buy materials in cash.
It’d be good if you could pay for your power bill or regurlar trips to the supermarket on it.
I’ve got this months statement on my desk and I’ve just figured that I’ve spent nearly $5000.00 on fees since I joined.
Make up your own minds…It was good for me in the beginning but has nearly sent me to the wall since.

When I signed up, I got $3500 credit in trade to use. That’s how it works. I used some of that and went from there I now have a $10 000 limit which I had used up. Now I’m down to about $1700 in credit. I have two existing Barter clients who both want jobs done. I’m going to price these and I’ll have a zero balance. Then I’ll cancel my membership.
If I wanted to get out now…I’d have to pay up in cash.
You can work the other way by not using the credit given and only spending what you earn in the system. The funny thing though is that it is aimed at the fledgling business or the going down business both of whom really need more sales. The healthy cash flowing business would laugh and tell them where to go though.
As I said before, It was good for me in the beginning, but I don’t need it anymore. Lots of painful pitfalls can be made and I’ve made a few of them with this system.
You live, you learn and hopefully you get a little wiser.
