Looking to start cutting dibond and really interested in the Festool option you mention, have had a look at the Festool website but unable to work out exactly what i would need to buy.
I only want to cut dibond so not got a requirement for V grooving, would you be so kind as to advise what part numbers are needed to cut 2440×1220 sheets.

    Many thanks

    Russell.

Just get a Festool plunge saw & rail, simple 90 degree cuts would be a doddle

Thank you for quick response, what length of rail would be best.

    Kind regards

    Russell.

I’d recommend the 3mtr one, with a piece of sacrificial acm at either end & you’ll get a decent cut. Dreadful mess unless you buy the extractor as well though

Can ask what the appeal of the Festool is over other brands? I have no real knowledge of these. Is the festool simply better quality or is it set up differently with ACM in mind?

Not many v groove saws on the market & I won’t slate any of them as I only saw the Festool model on a demo at our place, haven’t seen any others working. Even the demo guy hadn’t used Or even seen one before. He set it up & showed it’s capabilities. I placed an oder inside of 30 minutes, it really was that good. German built, works like a dream pretty much out of the box. We can make a tray faster than a cnc start to finish, & we’re still on the original blade

    Thanks Kevin.

Can I ask which model you have?

This is the one I bought, had a vacuum, the 3m rail & the 1.2 rail at the same time. Not cheap but I ‘ve had my money back in what bought in trays used to cost me

We have the festool also, takes a little getting used to the offset of the blade but does a good job.

I made these spacers for it Rob, just lay them on the edge of the acm, butt the rail up against them & have our spacing sorted without messing around with that silly sliding guage. Never really needed to adjust the blade in 3 years

could you do me a favour Kev, next time you are using your Festool, could you take a picture of the jig in position and I will show our lads and they can make one up? we have had ait a few years and I’m not the one using it, so I am probably missing the obvious looking at these guides. Thumbsup

There is also Makita CA5000XJ for the same purpose. Much cheaper than Festool, but not sure if anyone has used and happy with it?

Hi Kevin ref still on the first blade , we have 2 of these and the company that comes round and resharpens our circular saw blade has re-sharpened these a couple of times before we have had to replace them .Obvs have to reset the cutting depth when re-installed but saves a lot of money .

Very interesting Mike, the Festool demo guy gave us a new blade for free when we ordered the machine by way off apology for their dealers being so unhelpful. But at £500 a pop, these things are expensive when new blades are needed. Who does the resharpening for you?

We have the Makita V groover with a 3m fence, plus a Evolution saw blade to fit – great piece of kit, can’t fault it.
