  • LED modules for lightbox?

Posted by Martin Manley on November 2, 2016 at 5:23 pm

    Hi guys,
I’ve been using LED strips for built up letters for years now but was still using fluorescent tubes for lightboxes; don’t ask me why, something to do with old habits dying hard and wanting an even light source. But somewhere along the line I asked myself why and I intend to use LED modules on a small 3ft x 3ft lightbox and perspex panel job I’m about to commence, as an experiment.
Now I’m the type who hates sub-contracting anything when I can do it myself so can anyone point me in the right direction to an LED supplier who can tell me what size modules, trannies, etc.I need as I can’t find this information readily on the internet.

    Thanks all

    Martin

    Hi Martin,

There will be a number of suppliers that should be able to help on this, Perspex Distribution, Oshino as just two examples. If you advise them the depth as this is really important to calculate the correct amount of LEDS, ensure the lightbox you white out on the inside if you can as this can massively improves the light output. Both of these, though I do have more, should be able to offer layouts and the most cost effective solution for you. You may well already have the answer, but hoping that I may have been able to help as only just joined the group.

    My best regards
    Sam
