  • Latex printing Hoarding Boards, most cost effective way to produce these?

    Hi

    HP Latex 310

I have a job to print a number of 8×4 hoarding boards (vinyl applied to board), so doesn’t have to be high quality.

What’s the best way of saving on the ink?
Do I reduce the passes or dpi? Do either of these help. There’s a lot of black coverage on them so just trying not to burn out my nice new cartridges on something that’s not viewed close-up.

    Thanks

If there is a lot of black coverage can you not print to a black vinyl ?

The graphics have photos on them which grad out to black. Just wondering how to change the settings on the rip / printer to get more economy out of the inks really.

    Thanks

    Hi

Use 6-pass and this will very likely have a lower saturation level set anyway so will save you some ink and speed up the print. Depending what RIP software you have you can also change the saturation setting in that. Lowering the resolution won’t really have the same effect.

The ink cost saving will be quite small though – I’d do it for the speed rather than saving some ink.

    Cheers

I agree with David on this also… though the lowest passes we use is 8. this way we get speed and no need to alter anything, just run it.
