JV3 Print and cut bundle
Posted by Andy Perry on July 22, 2010 at 9:23 pmHi guys,
I was looking at a Roland VP540i, but a spanner has been thrown in the works!
I have been offered a 3 year old Mimaki Jv3 160 print and cut bundle with take up unit, optional drier and gold warranty for 12 months Cost £10,500.
What do you think? This will be my first solvent machine and would value your opinions. Too many options!!!!!

you missed out which version?
SP or S?
SP is the newer one of the range.
We have the 160S, great machine… also 1.6mtr does make a difference

if its only 3 years old it will be the sp.
take up is standard anyway, if buying from a dealer. price with warranty is about right.
good machine, is the rip included?Peter

HI Dave/Peter,
Gen pro 3 rip if that makes sense?
It is the sp

Here is what is included:
Full set of CMYK Inks x 8 440cc Cartridges, Mimaki Rastorlink Pro 3 RIP Centre, Full 12 Months Mimaki Gold Parts/Labour & Engineer Call Out Warranty, Motorised TUR, Frontal Dryer System, Mimaki CG160-FX Pro Plotter which includes the unique di-cut feature, Free Roll of 1370x50M Xerox Printable Media, Delivery, Installation & Training over 2 Days plus on-going technical support when required.

Full set of carts and Gold service pack is near to 3k, so it sounds like a good deal.
Like I said, the take up roll is standard anyway, as is the front drying system (just a row of fans, no heat)
You will have to stay with mimaki carts whilst the maintenance contract is in place.hope this helps

Thanks Peter, I think I would like to stick with the original carts, to make sure nothing dries up or invalidates the warranty with 3rd party inks etc. I will probably still use the original carts after the warranty expires to make sure there are no problems.
What does everyone else think of the original carts versus everything else?

Andy. I am using Lyson inks, but they are supplied by the company who also do my maintenance contract, so they cant say the inks are to blame for any faults that may occur. I have not had any problems. and cant see any difference in print quality.
The maintenance contract covers the same as Hybrids, but with accidental damage cover as well. inks and contract are a lot cheaper than originals so worth considering after the fist year.

mines Selectech Colorific Pro JV3 cartridges inks and they work with Tech8 for contracts. (See advert at top of page)

Thanks Peter,
What kind of price are you looking at saving on these carts and contract?
I might need to get the contact number for your guys as I am pretty new to the solvent printing I will need as much help as I can get.

rough guide, 40% saving, but I would stay with whats offered in the bundle for the first year, no quibbles over anything that way..

Yeah, definitely stay with that I was meaning for year 2. I am sure I will pick your brains on it again.
