  • Just wondering how safe Eco Sol Max Ink is

Posted by Luke Graham on June 10, 2012 at 7:03 pm

Hi guys. Hope you’re all well. Have not been on for a while due to being away on holiday. It’s just a quick question as I have recently read an article about Eco-Sol Max ink and am wondering about how safe it is in small spaces -Re does it have really low VOCs. My concern is just because my office / business base is at home in my 3rd bedroom and I have a little one and I have never really thought about it till now.

Ps: When working the window is always open but by night the window and door are shut but of course every now and then the machine peforms it usaul cleans.

you should have two extractor fans luke. one sucking in fresh air, the other sucking air out the room.
they dont have to be big fans, but they should be there.

    Hi Rob

Thanks for that i should have said i do use a fan/extractor in the day as well its more at night when the machine is on standby as that is when the fan is not running but i do have they door closed. Below is the roland article i read which is what prompted this question which says it emits no vocs

Looking for an unbeatable one-two combination? All-new Eco-SOL MAX INK boosts the performance of the entire lineup of
Roland eco-solvent printers and printer/cutters…from the nimble 30” VersaCAMM to the heavyweight 104” SOLJET. Revolutionary
Eco-SOL MAX is tougher than ever, standing up to handling and fabricating with rugged scratch resistance and quicker drying time.
It’ll pop your eyes with the vivid, solid colors produced by an expanded color gamut and higher ink density. Its support for a broad
range of affordable, profiled coated and uncoated media will cut down your daily production costs. And you won’t get knocked out
by noxious fumes, because Eco-SOL MAX is virtually odor-free, emits no harmful VOCs

, and is safe for all working environments.
In the battle of inkjets, it’s really no contest

Are there any warning triangular logos on the cartridges? They might give you a bit more info, rather than the adverts/

That’s one of the reasons why I changed to latex.

Hi Geogre yes i have checked them and the yellow cat is the one that concerned me as it mentions the word cancer but all the advertising i read says its safe and has low vocs and i am sure it is or they would not be able to sell it i was just wondering if any one knew anymore or had more experience of eco inks as i am not full time in the sign industry i just print banners and t- shirt transfers as part of my job but it is growing and i am using alot more of it

If you close the door at night and vent it before working in the mornings, you should be fine bud. But yeah a lot of peeps still aren’t aware the ‘eco’ stands for economy, and not some eco friendly garbage lol.

It would be very interesting to see a poll of how many people have actually done this 😕

Hi guys. Thanks for all your responses. It would be interesting to know how many vent their machines properly at home. I have spoken with Roland today and, along with all your comments too, my mind is more at rest. I am using a fan/extractor while working in the day and keeping office door shut at night with window slightly open.

    cheers guys
